Formula 1 - 2014 Season

It's not 100% confirmed about the joining part, but Horner did said "obviously Ferrari made him a very attractive offer". So the possibility of the rumor about Vet Alo pairing at McLaren is very low right now.

Edit: and Kvyat is very lucky boy to be at the right time. Yes, he got speed, but going to TR and immediately RB must be the envy of other drivers.

It's been confirmed by Horner that Vettel is indeed going Ferrari to accompany Kimi

They both mates so it will be nice to see them race against each other :)

I wonder what is stopping Ferrari from making official announcment if everyone including Niki Lauda is saying openly on live TV that Fernando was released from his contract on Wednesday?

According to Jonny Herbert from Sky F1 there is also a rumor that Fernando hasn't finalised his contract negotiations with McLaren and he has open seat waiting for him at Lotus if needed. That would be a strange move but stranger things happened in F1!

BTW I want the race to be moved forward so we get at least a bit of racing! The more organisers delay decision the less likely it will happen and I don't want to be watching procession behind Safety Car concluded by red flagging the race after few laps due to heavy rain :???:

Alonso should not take a sabbatical, he has momentum and needs to race. I am betting McLaren, because Vettel at McLaren doesn't make sense.

IF he takes a sabbatical, he will do some cycling stuff I am sure. IF that happens, I don't think he'll be back in F1 ... :/

Alonso has been working on some moves to leave Ferrari for a few months now. I think one of the stipulations Alonso asked for to move to McLaren may have been something to do with Ron Dennis stepping down and there are rumours Berger may take the role of "team boss" at McLaren.

Not really months, it started when Montezemolo was thrown away, with Montezemolo Alonso would have had everything he wanted (current rights like ability to pick engineers and mechanics before the team mate, raise, ability to leave team after every season if the performance wasn't up to par), but with Montezemolo set aside, the Santander boss dead, Alonso was only negotiating with Mattiacci because the FIAT head controlling Ferrari now too didn't want too much to do with the F1 team - and Mattiacci wasn't going to give Alonso any special rights nor raise

Imagine what Vergne must feel like. Kvyat comes in, and although he's shown some speed at times, he only scored 8pts to Vergne's 19. After Ricciardo getting the nod last season it's a bit of a slap in the face. Hope he gets a drive next season.

Alonso is in the old spectrum, he shouldn't take a break. But no matter where he goes there will be a new car, new team and a very hungry young guy waiting for him.

I hope he will race Magnussen next year, that will show Magnussens real lvl, and Alonsos of course :)

Alonsos possible move to McLaren raised the old McLaren/Ferrari espionage case back up a bit, Dennis apparently commented that Alonsos part in it was irrelevant and it won't affect his future.

Also Massa asked Alonso if he's heading to Marussia or Caterham :D

They need to remember that these drivers are the best in the world.

It's a complete joke that the safety car came in when the cars could go on intermediates.

If they aren't going to let them race on the wets, remove the tyres from the list of the options.

Yeah you could see it in the footage if you look. The BBC never mentioned the crash until after the race, but I watched it back and after Sutil span, the next time they cut to it you could see lots of steam rising and the wreckage behind the tractor.

Sutil saw the whole accident, so I can only imagine what he's thinking. It looked quite bad.

Some pictures here.

Cannot really make anything out in regard to what happened, but it looks bad. One shot seems to show the nose stuck under the tractor, but the rest of the car is infront of it. Hopefully that isn't the case as I see that as a fatal accident if true.

Should've carried on looking at the pictures. The last couple appear to show he went under the tractor (what I thought was the nose is the engine cover or rear wing.) Anyway, fingers crossed for Jules, hope he pulls through.

FIA has confirmed that Bianchi has serious damage to his head and is being prepared for (or already undergong) surgery

I advise everybody not to bother clicking that link. The mirror obviously hires monkies to do their programming so the whole thing doesn't work (in two different browsers). Don't give them any hits.

Anyway, all the best to Bianchi but when they see severe head injuries I fear for the worst. Does anybody remember if Massa was reported to have severe head injuries apart from his eye when he got hit by that spring?

Reportedly he's out of surgery and doesn't need artificial life support, as he's breathing on his own

Really unfortunate repeat of the same crash that happened under yellow [FIA says double yellow] flags. FIA will most likely get heat for this, but I really don't think that Sutil's crash was serious enough to cause SC to come out. Marshals could have removed the car very quickly, but lap later Bianchi spun and hit the tractor.

Crash looks much worse than the one of Maria De Villota. :(
