Formula 1 - 2013 Season

According to German Der Spiegel, Bernie Ecclestone is prepared to give Kimi's salary straight from Lotuses TV moneys if the team can't pay him in time, to prevent Kimi from boycotting the last 2 races

Alonso's back received a 28g impact when he ran over the kerbs after passing Vergne. He's been declared fit for the Austin GP.

It's easy to give away somebody else money! Of course, if Ecclestone had a spine he would admit that the reason why many teams have financial problems is because he and his mates keep draining the sport of money. He should offer Kimi out of his own pockets, not give him Lotus' money (if that's even legal, which I doubt).

Hmm, according to finnish F1 reporter Heikki Kulta, Kimi Räikkönens season is done. According to the news, he's going to back surgery next week to fix the issues that became worse after Singapore-weekend

Or the op is bogus, its pr to cover kimi refusing to race in the final 2 races because he hasnt been paid

Well the fact that his back has been having issues has been known forever, it's also known fact that Singapore caused serious issues with it

Apparently its a big "driver move" day. Autosport are reporting that McLaren have dropped Perez in favour of giving Kevin Magnussen a go.

I suspect that "medical issues" is a get out clause in his contract to ensure that he does still get paid for the races he's done without defaultng. Obviously its better for him to be fully fit before the pre-season testing for 2014 (which starts very early next year) as he steps into the Ferrari.

However, someone else pointed out that this certainly doesn't harm Ferrari right now - Lotus are currently behind Ferrari in the constructors championship, but they have outscored them since the long wheelbase car came up to speed; suddenly needing a reserve driver thats not fully up to speed could seriously harm that challenge. To that end, Lotus haven't immediately announced that their reserve driver will be used, so they may be shopping around to see if there is a more experienced driver around.

I think that maybe we might get a glimpse of their 2014 line-up now or perhaps maybe even Heikki may suddenly land a drive!

I would like to see Heikki back, even if only for 2 races :D

He's a good bet as he driven this year Caterham F1 car and should be fit enough to do full race distance. Other than him Lotus can go for Nick Heidfield or one of ex Torro Rosso drivers.

Unfortunately for Valsecchi he is the least probable option which is unfair for 3rd driver.

Felipe > Pastor

just going by personality, also Pastor is too crashy
