Formula 1 - 2008 Season

Now all we need is Kimi, Michael and Fernando so we can see who really is the best. :D

I love Top Gear, they are bonkers. Putting Hamster in a F1 car? Hilarious. :D

Yebo .. Hamilton really impresses me more and more.
Only 0.3 sec slower ;) than Stig. Hope he can make it back for the dry run.

I know, but putting May in there would be even crazier. And Clarkson would just destroy the engine because he wouldn't give a crap about what the engineers told him to do.

I couldn't believe it when they gave May the Bugatti Veyron for the "can it really do 200 mph" report they did a few months back. Put Captain Slow in the fastest car in the world and tell him to do a 200 mph drag.

It's annoying that they haven't been able to have The Stig run that car on their track.

Also, someone on another forum speculated that The Stig was indeed Richard Hammond, but I think after seeing him in the R25, we can lay those rumors to rest. :D

The Stig is some incognito proper racing driver. There was a strong rumour a couple of years back that one of the Stig's incarnations was Jason Plato.

Speaking of Hamilton want a peice of him ?

Well now you can as hes planning of putting himself on the london stock exchange yep you can buy 10% of lewis hamilton plc valueing himself at a cool 1billion

If Buggati thought it would be top they'd let them. I guess they enjoy Top Gear making out it's the best car ever than have them prove it's not

Its a shame Bristol are totally adverse to publicity
id love to see the 270mph Bristol Fighter-T go up against the Veyron

Its not only about bugatti, or rather VAG, being scared the car doesnt make the #1 spot (which it probably doesnt, no matter what 2tons wont corner as good as a light weight car) but they probably cant be botherd by it. Ferrari never lend TG the Enzo either.

Its not only about speed, the veyron as as much about being able to do 400kmph in a car that is still ''very'' comfortable at those speeds.

Just watched the new topgear show btw, I dont believe hamilton did that lap so fast in the dry. The F1 drivers are much more limited by the car than their skill, I dont believe hamilton can be 3sec faster than webber in the wet and only be 0.2 behind the stig in the dry, thats just impossible as the car just hasnt got the speed to do that.

Webber is an average driver, Hamilton is a good one, possibly great.

Rain is a great leveler in F1 and in 2 of the 3 wet races last season Hamilton was thrashing everyone by miles (until his tyres went off in China).

The stig is also an average driver. (he's Ben Collins by the way - Found that out today)

Well he is. If you've seen the program, it's easily possible to overdrive the car, especially in the wet where the tyres won't stick the car to the road very well. If you saw Jennifer Saunders the previous week, she never once looked out of place or even that she was going that fast, but she was the second fastest (non-F1) star-in-a-reasonably-priced-car because she nailed every corner perfectly, and at the exact right speed to carry momentum to the next part of the track.

If you listen to the commentary, at one point Clarkson says Hamilton takes the same line around some of the corners that the Stig takes, where most F1 drivers take a different line which apparently is "wrong". The F1 drivers take a different line, and Hamilton naturally takes the same line as the Stig uses. I guess that's one of the reasons why Hamilton is naturally a very fast driver.

If you watched the report all the way to the end, Hamilton gets invited back to try again on a dry track, so then you can "not believe it" when he beats the Stig's time.

His performance also made a great impression on the Top Gear team.

"I still keep replaying his second to last corner, because I've never seen a piece of driving quite like it," wrote executive producer Andy Wilman on the show's website.

"The world is governed by the rules of physics, but he just seems to have his own set.

Uhm the different between a good driver and a average driver doesnt make for a 3 second difference in a normal road car. Hell, even in F1 it doesnt make for a 3 second difference per lap and Hamilton even has the faster/better car in that case.

As I said above we are talking about F1 drivers, all these guys know what they are doing. One isnt so much better that he makes a 3 second difference and even is faster than the dry lap times, not in a car so limited as they have on TG.

Well dont forget TG is british and hamilton is their newest british idol, you can bet on it they are atleast exaggerate things a little bit.
