Formula 1 - 2008 Season

Ferrari's season didn't start very well... crap it looked pretty good for Kimi in the beginning, well he got one point after Barrichello was disqualified. I wonder what the hell happened to Heikki just after he passed Alonso?

He moved his hand up to rip off a tear off and brushed the pit limiter button. Then he took a fraction to work out what had happened and turn it back off, but it was too late. Great pass he put on Alonso though before. Good drive by him!

The Ferrari has got really good pace, they just need to sort out the other issues. I'm sure the next race will be closer.

Shame for Rubens, it's pretty amazing how well they have polished that green turd. Very impressive and more to come it seems.

Holy crap what a race. It couldn't have been "bloodier" even if it had rained! :D

Kubica got shafted by Nakajima. Seems like the Japanese are continuing their great kamikaze tradition. ;) (j/k)

Kovalainen messed up, accidentally pressing the pitlane entry button, severely hampering the speed and allowing Alonso to re-gain fourth position which Kovalainen had just gained.

Bourdais was probably the most impressive in the race, he drove last years Toro Rosso and he kept a lot of people behind him. Great start of the season, and he got points even though he didn't cross the line.

All cars with Ferrari engines failed to finish, and Kimi managed to get one measly point due to Barrichello's disqualification.

Wonder if the loss of engine braking and traction control combined with the slippery track made all the difference, or if the next race will be as spectacular with cars sliding about and going off in droves. :D

Wasn't it fun to see Rosberg and Hamilton overjoyed in the back room? They were jumping and hugging and smiling. :)

So much for Hamilton not being able to adjust to the lack of driver aids.

Well that stuff wasn't really about his ability, it was mostly about his youth, precociousness and the colour of his skin.

If F1 cars are really behaving like karts these days whose more likely to take to them easy, a just-out-of-karts rookie, or a used-to-the-driver-aids veteran.

Sligt note on the Ferrari engine stuff, only kimi DNF because his engine broke, all other cars DNF because of other problems/crashes.

Rumors are going btw that Kimi's car broke in quali because of a fuelpump error that was caused by the ECU, which is as we know is made by mclaren. Rumor is also going that the Mclaren guys and a ferrari and magnetti guy (ferrari's long time electronics supplier) had a bit of a argument with the magnetti guy ending up saying that if mclaren wanted a war they could have it. It also seems Massa DNF because of a fuelpump error.

Its all just rumors, but if its true you'd say its almost to big of a coincedence that the macca ecu fails in the ferrari car to be true. Probably all just bad luck though.

They probably got some BSOD problems. :D

I thought Bourdais broke his engine, you could hear from the on-board microphone that something was really wrong with the engine or drivetrain.

I am sure McLaren didn't send the ECUs out to each team.

Sounds like complete BS that Ferrari fans like to invent when they don't do so well.

Every single ECU is made by McLaren (or was it their sister company, but same organization anyway)

Which has nothing to do with my post.

I said I am sure McLaren didn't send the ECUs to each team, not they didn't make them.

The mere suggestion McLaren would have the means to send Ferrari ECUs that don't work is completely laughable. Every ECU will have gone through the FIA, even ones McLaren use.

It is more likely the Magnetti guy/s tried to reprogram/hack it to gain and advantage and f'd it up.

Yeah, it was a horrible sound. Usually when engines fail in a puff of smoke, the smoke is white and billowing, this was more translucent and it wasn't very much of it.

I have to watch the race again to see that Alonso move when he gained two places.

Edit: just watched it and it was beautiful. Kovalainen passed Räikkönen, but while they were scrapping, Alonso managed to get past both of them. Also, when Kovalainen pressed his pit-lane limiter button by accident, Alonso showed great alertness by not ramming into Kovy's back-end.

If only Glock didnt make that rally jump crash thing, Kovalainen would have had a good chance of winning thw race. He was making lap records while Hamilton was stuck behind Barrichello.

Bear in mind that the driver behind gets a very good signal as to exactly whats happened in that situation - the rear light flashes when the limiter is hit. Alonso probably knew what happened before Kovy did!

I must say that you are one big idiot if you manage to do something like that. Either that or the guy who did the wheel lay-out is a retard. Didnt something similair happend to hamiton last year? How hard can it be to put all the ''you dont want to press this while racing'' buttons somewhere where you cant press them accidently?

All of the buttons are just directly in front of you on the steering wheel. This isn't a case of accidently pressing the wrong button, this is a case of removing your hand off the steering wheel and crossing to the other side of your body as you go up to reach the tear-off on your helmet; if you accidently brush the steering wheel, or hit a bump that causes you hand to move just at the moment you take it off the wheel it would be very easy to hit any one of them.
