Final Fantasy XIII [PS3, X360]

That's good news for xb360 owners and multiple DVDs, I think less disc swapping if free exploration of the world map is limited.

Other multidisk rpg titles have released on the console and feature free exploration throughout the game on any given disk. This is of course given that one has progressed far enough through the storyline to actually of unlocked these regions.

Apparently this is only really the case until halfway through the game, where it opens up considerably.

Bah... then what's the big deal ? Do you have a link to some article or impression post ?
I heard they were being pursued. So no time to shop in earlier towns ?
. After the game opens up, are there things to do besides random monster encounter ?

I played FFXIII briefly in the mall yesterday. Tried the new Optima battle system. One of my party members "died". It looks like proper game balance is finally in the store demo. Will wait for its release in US. No incentive to get the Japanese release now.

Square Enix announced that development on FFXIII "overseas version" is now complete:
http://kotaku.com/5447752/overseas-version-of-final-fantasy-xiii-finished

The overseas version was developed simultaneously with the Japanese one as we wanted to ensure that it comes out as soon after the Japanese release date as possible.

In the completed FINAL FANTASY XIII, the features which were popular amongst gamers at our survey last summer have been enhanced even further.

One of those features is characters' facial animations, which work as the core of any human drama. Their movements are completely synchronised with the English lines and, due to this, each scene in the game is truly spectacular...

...Don't get distracted. You will see the truth when you hold it in your hands. Please be patient a little longer for the 'day of a battle against the fate"!

Huh, different engines for Xbox and PS??

http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2010/0...fantasy-xiii-feature-and-interview-scans.html

Didn't the simultaneous development on both the PS3 and the XBOX360 cause difficulties?
KITASE: We have made it our top priority to deliver the same quality on both consoles. It was self-evident that it brought some difficulties with it. Both consoles require a different approach. Especially on the graphics section. We had to build a different engine for both versions. We needed a year of tinkering on each engine in order to get the same level of graphics.

This seems to be weird, because SE said that Crystal Tools were multi platform if I remember correctly ...

You have been working at Square Enix for quite a while now. How do you see Final Fantasy XIII in comparison with its illustrious predecessors?
KITASE: I consider this Final Fantasy as the most evolved instalment of the series. On the area of setting, it looks a lot like Final Fantasy VII, but we went beyond that. Much more futuristic then you can imagine. I'm mostly proud of the battle system. It's one of the most advanced system you've ever played. If you experience it for the first time, you will immediately be reminded of Final Fantasy XII, especially because you participate in a battle as a group. But, basically we have taken the best from the previous Final Fantasy instalments and put it into this one.

Now that the demo is out of the picture, would be glad to try out their new battle system !

You'd want two separate graphics engines for the different platforms if you can, but they'd use the same content and tools. Two engines means lots of platform comparison, I'm sure!

World must be coming to an end...

A white Xbox 360 Pro with 250GB drive, 2 controllers & a copy of the standard game for $400? All that channel clearing for this? LOLWUT?

Why does the FFXIII case says "Only on XBox 360", when it's coming out on PS3?
Why does a single player game needs two controllers?

Something is fishy about this.

The 2nd and 3rd discs are only on Xbox 360!

Why not a wireless adapter instead of a 2nd controller, I wonder?

Agreed! Nothing quite like an engrossing epic adventure that is only possible in a SP. When will the reviews come in again?

Yeah ! Nothing like being alone in a wonderland ! MP is too sterile and black and white. Doesn't let the imagination and feelings fly like a SP ! !

According to Microsoft
Controller worth $60
Wireless adapter worth $100

The wireless adapter would make it a better deal but I think it is obvious why the choose to not include it.
