I wouldn't be surprised if n64s sales took a sharp hit when dreamcast came out.
actualy, that's about right. i remember comparing #'s and noticing that however good sega was doing, it wasn't really affecting sony's numbers in the least.

Teasy,

As mentioned console shortages may have limited PS2 a bit, but even so..

There were xbox shortages for PS2 AND xbox in north america (also europe but we're not talking abotu that here). If you need proof of that just have a look at the noth american retails chains compaing how thie rsales were down this year due to shortages of xbox and PS2. As far I I've seen the GC didn't have tha tissue this fall.

I know everyone is talking about Xbox shortages, but Xmas eve at Best Buy here I saw literally a pile of Xboxes in a circle...

How can you say the GCN did great? Maybe compared to itself but compared to the other two, it's still behind by ~20% (even with this surge that could likely peter out). These numbers seem to indicate that the GCN could very well be in 3rd place.

When exactly did I say it did great? I said it did very well in December, and it did. Its sales were up 135% and it took 30% of the market. As for being third, well duh :), its been third in the U.S for a while... If you're referring to worldwide then shall we check out Japanese sales were XBox sold all of 700 systems in the week of Christmas vs 112,000 for GC? :)

Yeah I'm sure there were XBox shortages. I heard something about some kind of accident where loads of XBox's were lost in shipping on their way to the U.K or something.. But I think PS2's shortages were far worse worldwide.

Regarding sales being down this Christmas, they were actually the same this year for XBox in the U.S. GC's sales were down 30% but PS2 was the only system that was significantly down compared to 2003 with less then half the systems sold this December when compared to last Christmas.

Uh, "very well" pretty much means "great".

That's why I clarified if you were speaking about sales relative to itself or the other two. FWIW, coming in third is not great. Sales relative to previous sales WERE great.

I'm referring to worldwide. From time to time, it's postulated that the GCN is indeed third. Sales #s like the one don't seem to necessarily dismiss that claim. Do we have any current #s?

Ty

Are you the guy who defines exactly what everything means then? :) Look, if I'd meant great then I would have said great ok?

Also to be honest I think my original post was actually pretty clear. I said that GC has done very well compared to the expectations of a lot of people in this forum. People who seem to believe that its basically a dead console that nobody wants. As well as compared to its sales in the previous month. Compared to the other systems, expectation, profit and any other factors aside it only did ok.

No obviously it doesn't dismiss that, nor does it indicate it though. Oh and no I don't think we have current total worldwide numbers. At least I don't anyway, sorry..

Lol. You're the one who nitpicked my choice of the word "great" not equating to "very well". Are youthe one who defines exactly what everything means then? ;) In other words, please move BEYOND such sily nonsense as trying to split hairs. I wasn't asking for your definition of "very well" and if it meant "great". I was asking how you came to the conclusion that the GCN did "great" or "very well" (if you'd prefer) given the fact that it came in last place.

Well to me that wasn't clear. You mentioned that others postulated that everyone who wanted a GCN already had one. I was simply looking for the connection. Had I seen the phrase, "compared to the expectation of others" then we wouldn't be having this conversation. No biggie.

People who believe the GCN is dead are morons. Yes, it's out of the race (but Xbox isn't far behind or ahead on this one either) but so what. It will still have some great games to come.

I don't think that was it, as european xbox are made locally (relativly) in europe. Germany I beleive.I don't know if the PS2 shortages were as worse, but it had something to do with them switching to the smaller PS2 at the wrong time. AQnyway a shortage in europe shouldn't have any effect on north america.

Actually sales were down for all the consoles. Xbox was the smallest change (down 7% or somehting areound that figure.), while being in short supply.

When its my comment we're discussing the yes, within reason anyway. In my first reply to you for all I know you could have actually misread my post, which is why I corrected you. When you replied with "Uh, "very well" pretty much means "great"" it just seemed like you were trying to tell me what I meant by my own comment.

Quincy

It probably didn't happen then, one of my friends just said they'd heard about it or something.

Also yeah you're right XBox's sales were down, I just didn't mention it since it was by such a small margin (3%).

And falling within reason imo, "great" = "very well".

Nope. I'm just saying that when I used, "great" that it was close enough to "very well". Anyhow that wasn't that important to the question I asked, a question which you clarified in your later post.

Oh honestly, I can't believe you're still arguing with every single comment I make. I'm just not going to bother anymore :)

Ya know, Teasy... It's getting real old to see you quote someone only to turn around and complain when they are quoting you.

You either complain that someone is responding to eveything in your post (whch I think is foolish considering that's how a forum works) or that are misunderstanding what you are saying. What's even worse is "you" do this by starting the argument by quoting them. I mean come on, if you're going to quote people (and get what they say wrong) then you shouldn't complain about "them" quoting you.

Everyone stop the trolling .

L-b , Ty .... all of you involved in this please stop now .

There is no need for the fighting . If someone says something you don't like just don't responed , if its truely bad sonic or I will come and edit it or delete it .
