DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

Can I just say... The drift events... WHY??? HOW??? WHYYYYY!!!!!

I absolutely hated the drift events. The scoring is so arbitrary, you could perfectly string a set of corners together with moderate drift - or do a handbrake spin into a wall and somehow get twice the points. It seems to be that points scale with speed × angle (with a really high angle threshold) with no obvious multiplier for keeping the drift going or keeping it clean - doesn't matter if the car is in control or you hit a wall, so a slower modest (but consistent) drift can give *very* few points. :/

I just ended up going as fast as I could, and to hell with style. Really hated the events, especially those that deliberately had poor visiblity.

Having said that, the game really nails the feeling of close racing (when racing online at least). Far more so than other racers I've played online.
When you get an opponent who actually races clean it can be a real thrill jostling for position - especially on the windier, bumpier tracks. The player to player networking and prediction is exceptionally good and pretty much single handedly saves the game for me.
It's at this moment the game really comes alive and it's such a shame the same can't be said for the AI.

I really hope this patch improves things, it's still a complete mess actually trying to get into a race. I had a game today with the full 12 players in the lobby, only for 2 of us to make it into the race proper - that's assuming you even get into the lobby which is about 1 in 5 in my experience. :/

I noticed that these issues with lost players appeared relatively recently. It wasn't like that even during the worst times when you just couldn't connect to the servers.

I hope that next patch will also improve network problems, not just add replay, photo mode and tracks. Disconnects in the middle of the hot lapping are annoying, not only your best lap can be lost but also no points for the club. Happened to me this morning, about 200k points was not given to the club.
At least points or "fame" if you like, are added to your score even if you are already at lvl. 50.

Ignition Expansion Pack is coming next week link
Also a note from evo:
Work continues on the server improvements as our priority, and everyone on the team who is able to work on this (or help) is focused exclusively on fixing the server issues.

The other members of the team are working on game updates to make DRIVECLUb better for you and new packs to add more cars, tours and trophies to the game. We're also working on new features like dynamic weather and replays as well as many other improvements to the game based on your feedback. We'll give you an update on all of this soon.

yeah yeah photo mode is nice and all, but since update I can't use official PS4 steering wheel Thrustmaster T300 RS because button mapping is messed up and button configuration doesn't work as supposed to. First Sony forced us to buy new wheels and now they messed up wheel support in their only exclusive racing game, poor show.

edit:

and after few days of trying to bring attention to this problem, I finally got response from them, at least now we know that they work on this

Welp. Patch doesn't seem to have improved the matchmaking issues. :/
Maybe it's just my imagination, but I feel like the game looks crisper now.
