DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

Server errors and timeouts are especially bad tonight. About one in ten matches start without error. :/

edit:

Just spent 15 mins trying to get into a race. Failed.

Holy bajebus the Ariel Atom is just insane. I mean. I knew it was fast, but not 'rocket ship with the downforce of a paper airplane' crazy. It utterly destroys every other car (in its class) out of a corner, but good luck getting it round the corner in the first place :p

Tried it out tonight in multiplayer. The results were rather clenching.

The race was something of a clusterf**k to be honest  but boy was it fun.
The first lap or two are a mess. Watch the rearview mirror and map at 5:25 for the biggest asshole moveof all time by the aston martin :p

Hi everyone,
The team at Evolution continues to work diligently to resolve all of the server issues. We know you have all been extremely patient and understandably frustrated during DRIVECLUB’s launch, and to show our appreciation for the support during this challenging time, we will be offering the premium DLC packs for November (25th November-SCEA/26th November-SCEE/27th November-SCEJ) free to those who purchased the full game.
These premium DLC packs – The Ignition Expansion Pack and Photo-Finish Tour Pack along with two livery packs – will give you a total of five new cars, 22 new tour events, 10 new trophies and 10 new livery items to play with online and offline.
The Season Pass will be extended to include four extra packs in July 2015 to ensure players who purchased the pass get everything that was promised. So on top of the free DLC in November, the Season Pass will still include 38 cars, 176 tour events and 80 unique liveries.
On Tuesday we will also be releasing our next game update which includes our first round of player requested feature updates.
In addition to Photo Mode, which will allow you to share your most thrilling moments with your friends, we will be adding:
• Improved multiplayer collision physics to reduce frustrating spin-outs
• Adjustments to soften the corner cutting penalty system
• Options in the club menu to view everything your club has unlocked
• A fix to allow all club owners to update their club badges
This update also includes the first new tracks, which we announced back in September as part of our plans to keep supporting and expanding the game as you play. These include the following free new tracks for online and offline play (also playable in reverse):
• India – Yedepalli
• Scotland – Wester Ross
• Chile – Los Pelambres
Although currently we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch of the PS Plus Edition, we are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible.
Once again, thank you for your support. We are truly sorry that the road to delivering the full DRIVECLUB racing experience on PS4 has been such a rocky one.

Good news ! time to erase my 1300+ screenshots and take new ones.

Can I just say... The drift events... WHY??? HOW??? WHYYYYY!!!!!

Can I just say ... optional. :D I basically skipped them initially. Got back to them a bit once I really wanted to get some more stars though, and slowly started to enjoy them. But still definitely not my favorite (never has been).

I can't stand the drift events either. I have nearly all other stars (just waiting to unlock the P1 to get some of the hypercar event stars near the end of the Tour), but the drift events wind me up really bad. There just seems to be no way to really finesse the throttle, even though it's analogue. I'll keep trying!

I find it's all about finding the right entry speed, I do a little feathering of the throttle if it's needed, but most of the time I have the throttle full down and control it with the steering.

Bingo! All drift events 3-starred with that advice. I was trying to control the slide on the throttle and always bogged down or spun out. Controlling entry speed and moderating the steering angle did the trick. I'm only 14 stars out now, all on the last 3 hypercar events: Venom Hot Lap, World Hypercar Series and the Legend Trophy.

Rys you already had 10k points on an event I couldn't get pas 4k points......
Can someone explain it to me in extremely layman terms? Please?

The trick is to get the corner entry angle and speed correct before you yank the handbrake and pitch it into the drift. After you've hit O, it's full throttle and just steering input to control the angle of the drift. Don't play with the throttle mid corner, don't brake, just ride the slide out on the steering.

Getting the car setup before you hit the handbrake is the key.

If that's happening, slow down and pull on the handbrake less (in my experience!). Sounds like you're going too fast.

So what's the point in the Koenigsegg Agera R? It's completely undriveable for me, losing traction on almost every steering, brake and throttle input.
