DMC4 Countdown...

They do both have that somewhat cartoony look to them...

But Dead Rising looks better than this IMO. More enemies on screen and longer draw distance when compared to these initial shots.

I must have missed something but were there even enemies displayed in these screenshots?

I'll be quite surprised if DMC4 has hundreds of enemies on screen. ;) My point is that Dead Rising looks much better than this and more detailed. The main character model for Dead Rising for instance has more detail. This looks like it was originally a PS2 game that's being ported up or something.

I actually wouldn't. The previous games' action seemed to be capped by hardware limitation. I get the impression taht the designers would get alot more characters onscreen if possible. However, maybe not let you engage more. The gameplay system really doesn't account for more. But I wouldn't be supprised it there was alot of non/semi interactive characters poulating scenes. Even on the DR scale. Well, maybe not THAT many. But an order of mangnitude beyond the previous games.

Personally, I don't find the screenshots that bad. They've got a decent draw distance, the background are very detailed. But the character model needs a lot polishing. His silver gun looks more like plastic than metal.

Has anyone caught the DMC4 higher res scans from famitsu (not 720p high res, but higher than the scans before it)? Looks alot better than the game informer shots dispite being scans.

The game looks more like lost planet than dead rising imo, large scale and huge enemies, but of course with the DMC style. The fact that this game is rumored to be 60fps doesnt hurt either.

they have their site updated

this looks like a dev blog of a sort.. one, please? ; )

Not one, but I'll do it anyway:

First of all, there's not much in it, so just bullet points.

* the team is currently working very hard because of TGS (he always calls it playable TGS). Literally, they're a in a hell of development

* four pictures released from the daily activities.

1st picture:
picture of the game testing. Project leader stands in the back

2nd:
photo of game testing. Processing pop-up test of the test version

3rd:
fine tuning of the lighting of a demo scene. The screen shows Nero. They’re deciding if the should make Nero look beautiful. Check TGS for results.

4th:
design drawings. Used to check that Nero is easily distinguishable from Dante.

For a long time I've been wondering what top-teir japanese developers would do with shader technology.

It would appear that they have been wondering as well....

Well.... It's pretty. And if DMC3 is anything to go by, it'll be a stellar play.

But on the technical front, it's a huge letdown. Then... only DMC was a real tour-de-force.

I guess I just can't escape the feeling that the game is sufferring from lowest-common-denominator. If Capcom goes multi-platform I can only hope that the (related? Maybe.) lack of oomph hurts their bottom line. Maybe then they'll consider picking a platform and going full tilt.

I really don't know what's going on here but I'm feeling a bit let down one way or the other.

I hope by lowest common denominator you refer to Wii or something, because I have difficulty believing the 360 is what is hurting DMC4, since I don't think this game is developed for it and second right now Lost Planet looks better than this...

By lowest common denominator I mean below what either 360 or PS3 are capable of. I blame "The Framework".

Whether they intend to do a multiplatform release or not, the compromise is what's hurting the game. At least that's my hunch.

DMC is not using the "framework" engine. It's built up for PS3 or atleast that's my take.

eh?

The Framework engine is adopted in games including Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, Monster Hunter 3.

...did pigs just fly out of your ass? j/k but this is really bad looking in screens unfortunately and I'm more interested in how it looks in motion.

Have you seen the high res famitsu scans? The look better than the GI showing imho.

I'm going to need to know exactly what you are implying before I construct a retort.
