On my calibrated 1080p 55", it looks in-between tkf's screenshot and EG's screenshot (not as smooth as tkf's, but not nearly as rough as EG's in the exact same position).
I'm running at 720p FWIW.

Offscreen, but this is what it looks like more or less (maybe even slightly smoother).

So let me check if I get you right - worse is actually better?

Heh. :D Okay, what I think he means is that having something consistently good is perceptually better than something which toggles between excellent and mediocre. Like how 45 fps feels sluggish if you're used to 60fps so you're better off caping the framerate to 40fps for a more consistent experience.

Ok something was mentioned earlier in the thread about the lighting technique used in GT5.
I have seen this brilliant mod in GTA that replaces textures and lighting to more realistic versions and the result is simply mindblowing.

I think that's gonna be the big jump for next-gen.. lighting and shaders. We've seen plenty of examples like this where it makes a huge difference. Should be interesting to see what they show off on the new consoles.

What happened to DF's site?

Confusing new layout and then a grey box pops up that says 'loading' and nothing else happens. Plus, some of the type appears to be in the wrong place.

Looks sort of ok to me? The thumbnails on the Popular Now column overlaps with the text description, though I'm not sure if that's intentional.

The formatting probably has to do with EG's own new look, but it seems easy enough to follow. Popular Now and Recently Published column, the latter of which really needed more visibility before. Lower on the page, the listing of publications according to month uses both columns. Well, July looks kinda messed up with the individual days instead of following the format of September and August, though it seems individual days is how EG is setup, but then they publish a lot more content per day than just DF alone.

A lot of differences are hard to determine due to different light sources active in the scenes, dust obscuring the view, and at other times it looks to be artistic differences, e.g. the amount of ambient occlusion. Some things that look different also relate to the different gama. The streaming issue does rear its head a couple times but hopefully ingame it won't be as noticeable on the afflicted platform.

That being said, it looks like there is a bit of parity. One thing I noticed, and it may be their capture software, is the blurring/ghosting. Maybe the PS3 has some temporal AA going on? Or bad captures.

Either way I am a little surprised. I loved the Beta's gameplay but wasn't too excited about the graphics. I wasn't anticipating one of the best looking games on the market. Nice job DICE.

The only big difference I see here is the AO being more pronounced on 360. Looks kinda funny at times.

The blurring/ghosting might be the capture method. I dunno, it'd be nice if they actually had the unedited, untouched captures in the gallery. All the zooming in, cropping and resizing is unnecessary. For example, what the heck would be the point in comparing DVD against Blu Ray if the comparison shots were bloody tiny? I suppose that would make their lens obsolete, not that the lens tool is particularly useful for anything.

Hmm.... Something about the new DF site seems wrong. I feel that everything is so cluttered and scattered all over the place.

Not a very scientfic observation of mine, but I've yet to see an AO implementation that doesn't look a bit funny. (Deus Ex really pushed this to the extreme, with its Photoshop-esque drop shadows around the weapon models)
