Either that or all PS3's won't include a BD drive. Dammit, there I go again startin' shit...

Well after today's news, i think my old rumour of PS3 being BDROM-less is definately to be buried alive.

Listen mckmas, you're a smart guy. You can figure all this stuff out by yourself. If you want to play the "PS3 will launch worldwide on the first day of spring with no issues", go on ahead.

(Please read that a couple times before you make a hasty response.)

NEVER ever said the PS3 will launch on the first day of spring. I'm 100% like l-b when he mentioned that spring goes mostly through June. Yet for some reason you never take that part of my sentence into account. I personnally think the PS3 might lauch in May, but who knows. No information does not = Bad information.

Full 1080p/60. Software decoding via Cell, image processing via RSX

edit - I've updated the original post with a summary of news sofar. I know there's some stuff missing, but I'll add it as I find it :)
As it's software, it'll be more flexible than traditional players... This ASIC by Sigma Design for the Pioneer BD player is only able to decode 2 HD streams while Cell can decode 12. Advanced audio codecs are also handled in software on Cell. Then RSX on top of that. It's terrific.

About what?
I said that Sony would at least show PS3 running a HD demo at CES while people were calling me sensationalist for demanding that Sony AT LEAST show PS3 non-gaming features at CES. It sure makes a hell of alot more sense than showing them at E3.

Oh yeah I remember that. I was right there with you agreeing while everybody else was eating you alive.

Yeah I agreed with you step by step. It would have been stupid for Sony not to.

If Sony truly has a plan for VoD and other multimedia related functionality online and offline with the PS3, shouldn't we be hearing about it at CES?

Yes we should. Hopefully Howard will be smart enough to say something.

I don't think ti really matters; if they announce any such features at the Feb event and skip over it here, none of us will fault them retroactively. Sony can just kind of do what it wants in this regard - we're a captive audience and they know it.

Sure, but I would guess if we don't hear about their plan now, there isn't a real plan at all. it's a little late in the game, and this is the ideal venue to announce it.

Well, maybe maybe not - I wouldn't put anything past them at this point. If they don't announce anything by Feb's event though - then it's probably not there. ;)

They may go PSP style throughout PS3's life however, rolling out features via update periodically.
