Easy fellas, we got a while to go yet! But, yeah it has a great chance of having that title.

The lighting was great. Very convincing. Things look detailed too because of the grass, I think, and the trees look convincing at first glance. However, overall there was a huge amount in that trailer, and when the soldier dropped to the floor and moved through the grass, the limits were very apparent. I think it showed great artistic application, but I can't vouch for anything else.

Still, there's not much technical wizardry visible until I get to see direct-feed trailers. There may be more going on in the lighting or whatnot than I can see from these off-screen movies.

It really looks good to me, not just in the graphics (shadows of the tree on the soldier and building looked awesome), but also in the gameplay which is very convincing, with the coaching from the Captain and everything, just great. From a point of reference, it's much easier to determine what looks good in COD4 than what looks good in Killzone 2 in that respect. So I couldn't, at this point, tell which one is actually better, but right now they both certainly look great. I do agree with Shifty's analysis however.

I am still waiting for the day when we will not be that picky with a game's visuals, especially if it does unbelievable things in so many other areas.

Agreed ! Good suspense too while waiting to ambush enemies. I am also looking for any advances/innovation in gameplay. I think this game has "shooting through wall". What else ?

Definitely up there for me as well. Looks wicked and I've always liked CoD-gameplay - it's a must-buy.

I think the shooting-through-wall element to be a tad overdone and unrealic. I mean, I seem to remember being able to shoot through 5-inch concrete walls in that trailer. Is that really possible, even with armour piercing rounds? Sounds fishy to me.

I saw a show on the Military Channel about Special Forces snipers in Afghanistan. They seemed to imply that with a 0.50 cal sniper rifle and the proper ammunition, shooting through large rocks was not a problem, even at fairly ridiculous ranges.

After watching that I can unequivocally say for this gen 1080p can kiss my ass.

There were a lot of pixels being rendered there. Gobs of foliage, especially grass and weed, looks so great. At least three titles now - Crysis, DiRT, and COD4 - have all made a huge leap in enviroment quality for this reason. These are pretty simple pixels that can't be optimized to be drawn any faster, so double the resolution means half the framerate or detail. Totally not worth it. I'd love to see what someone could do on the 360 at SD resolution.

The lighting and shadowing in this game was impressive too, with nice high-res (and/or excellently cascaded) shadow maps. DOF was well controlled to look like a camera for realism but still be completely functional wherever you look on the screen.

Also, has there been any game out there with such good walking/running/crouching animation and transitions between them? For the longest time I just could not understand why devs didn't put more time into this or at least buy some tech from IP companies that already figured it out. It's one of those things you do properly once and use in just about every game. Now it's time for EA to reach this level.

It certainly looks very good but I think its an exagertaion to say its the best graphics shown for any platform. It might be able to compete on Crysis's level but its too difficult to tell for sure given the quality of that video.

One thing that is truly amazing is the animation though, I doubt the video would have been half as impressive if it wasn't following that guy around.

OMG! It looks amazing! I might have to pre-order this...and I have never pre-ordered anything, including Halo and GeOW.

edit: oops, I lied...I did tried to pre-order bioshock at fry's outpost...however they cancelled my order.

This game looks amazing, but you can see they have no AA and it seemed like some kind of tutorial. Need to seem some better/more representative vids.
