Anyone else flippity flopping on Wii?

I am really pumped up for the Wii. I just wanted to say that off the bat, but I just keep flipping and flopping between spending a bit mroe for the 360 and getting true next gen tech. Really what I like about Wii initially is backwards compatiblity with all the GameCube games I didnt play.

I really think i can wait until the price drops to $149. I look at the games and they look bad. I am not that big a graphics whore I gotta be honest. And i am not hard pressed for money. I dont know what it is I guess I am the type of person that likes to feel like they made a good investment. And i am not so sure at 249 it is a good investment. GC had no 3rd party support which may still be the case and all the great nintendo 1st party well i can buy a GC at $79 used $99 new for that.

Anyone else strongly debating which to get 360/PS3/Wii ?

I think I am leaning towards $360 this winter and a gamecube at $99 new. I get the same cartoony/fun Nintendo games at a cheap price plus I get next gen gaming.

Anyone else think this is the way to go?

Sorry for the obviously useless post. Just needed to get peoples opinions and see where they fall in regards to this question. See if anyone is having as hard a time deciding as I am.

Thanks.

Only the Democrats. Oops! Wrong forum. :p

Seriously, I'm still interested in the Wii but I'm intending to wait until the Mario game is released before thinking about a purchase. Hopefully the price will have dropped by then too because I really think it's a bit too expensive initially.

Well I am not flip flopping as I already have a 360 and have pre-ordered and paid in full for a Wii. I have had the 360 for a few months now and love it although I have not really been wowed in terms of gameplay. Sure the games look nicer and it is fun having a lot more characters on the screen, I am still having this feeling of "seen that before, done that before, etc...." But I do have high hopes for the system over the next few years.

As for the Wii, well I have young kids (4 under the age of 9) and a wife who simple loves Mario and the old Castlevania games. When the wife found out about Nintendo was doing in regards to the Virtual Console she was...damn...you better get me one. I am intrigued wrt the wiimote and I feel that if games are done right it will prove to be a great system.

If was in your situation and was wonder what to buy you got to ask yourself what kind of games are you most looking forward to playing.

1. Mario, Zelda, and lots of mini / party games with your friends, then I would go for the Wii right now and wait until MS drops the price of the 360 and perhaps offers a bundle that includes with Gears of War and / or Halo 3 (I think we will see such a bundle this coming year especially if the PS3 gets a lot of attention).

2. If you crave high-def graphics, insane amounts of characters on the screen and a lare number of decent FPS and racing games with some very interesting RPG games coming out in the near future, then the 360 is for you. IMO the 360 is lacking a bit on fun party games though if this is a factor.

I would not specifically go with the Gamecube at this point. The Wii will play all Gamecube games but the Gamecube will not play Wii games. You may regreat it if you see a Wii title you just want to get.

But ultimately the decision is yours and should be based on what type of gaming you want to do. I like my hardcore games and the media center funtions of the 360 so I got one. The family loves to play fun, easy to get into party games so the Wii is a great fit. So I got both.

Sorry for rambling.....

I read on another Wii site yesterday that Nintendo initially wanted to release the system at $199.99 but their hands were forced to a higher price point by retailers who wanted to have a higher initial profit margin. (I just went back to see if there was link to confirm this news and it was stated it was printed in the latest EDGE magazine).

If this is true then we may see faster price drops with the Wii as it should not affect Nintendo at all.

I'm still on the fence. I'll wait for the reviews of the controller first.

I think. Hmm. Zelda.

my not so positive experience with the ncube dictates i dont have to flip flop.. only flop in my mind

My sister has a GC so I plan on stealing that away and playing Zelda on it during my month-long Christmas break (I lover college!). The problem I see with Wii is that, until Mario is released there's really nothing that I can't play now on a Gamecube that even remotely intrigues me. Metroid isn't a big deal for me, Zelda can be played on the GC, the virtual console is nice but I know people who still have most of the good older games, and the new Mario doesn't come out until sometime later next year.

So basically, I think in some ways Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with the GC Zelda release because if it was only coming out on the Wii I guarantee that myself and quite a few others would be picking up a Wii this Christmas. As it is, I'll be picking up a X360 and eagerly waiting for Mass Effect. (I really hope this game doesn't get delayed anymore... :( )

I want a Wii, but am NOT buying one until Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers Brawl is out. Oh that and it needs a $149 price tag.

I'm and old school pc gamer and refuse to pay $250 for last gen technology, slightly updated graphics and repackaged with a new controller. $149 sounds delicious, $249 sounds like Nintendo thinks I'm stupid.

Well, I am doing flips for all 3.

I have a 360 and pre-orders on PS3 and Wii.

Anything less would be uncivilized. ;)

I'm going to be waiting for a while to make a decision. When second gen games for the Wii and PS3 and third gen games for XB360 appear, I will make a decision. I'm just not sold on the Wii. I know the controller is the main focus, but I like to see the public's initial reception to it before making such a commitment.

Absolutely no flippity floppity for me. There was nothing in the GC library that made me even theoretically consider buying one. I spent an evening full of "meh"s with a DS with maybe 10-12 games. It seems I am from Omicron Persei VI, Nintendo are from Omicron Persei XI :)

Not at all.

It did definitely drop off my book long time ago. I'll get one, a used one, later on for the obvious reason that I need to have all the consoles available, collecting them and I'd hate missing any game that I'd to try.

I'm torn between the Wii and PS3.
I'm definately selling my 360 to a friend this Xmas for his kids. I'm just not impressed with the lineup so far and don't see much change coming.
I'm trying to decide which system between the Wii and PS3 will have more of a variety of games for both disk and download and at this point I just can't tell. The PS2 clearly had the edge last gen,but this gen it could be very close.
