And last but not least... MS financials

I can say the only thing hte ps2 brought to console gamers were sequals

There really wasn't much more than 1 or 2 new games that were really good for the ps2 that didn't have a 2 or 3 or even 4 in the tittle
The same could be said about Nintendo, they're just more creative when it comes to titling games.

Considering EVERYONE's hottest titles this past season were direct sequels or popular licenses--PS2, GC, Xbox, and PC alike--I really don't think there are fingers worth pointing in any direction. It's just the way the video game industry works.

nintendo isn't as creative/innovative as it used to be.
(but if you consider the contribution since the begginings of nintendo in videogames !)

as the budgets and the stakes are bigger and bigger, and gaming becoming a more casual thing, videogames are becoming more of a financial/marketing thing than a creativity thing.

(can someone be as innovative as it was possible the past when so much thing have already been created ?)

maybe it's more an era for sony or microsoft than for the nintendo we knew, and nintendo is going to be more and more like them because they need to adapt to this maturing industry.

i essentially agree with Shifty Geezer.

on the hardware side, microsoft did nothing but use the PC architecture and PC parts.
nothing really innovative or new or somewhat efficient.

on the software side: recycled NT kernel, recycled directx API.

games: halo, which would have been released on PC and macintosh anyway..
a lot of disappointing exclusive content: kabuki warrior, sneakers, kakuto chojin, azurik, blinx, bloodwake, tao feng, nightcaster..
failed promises.. (who said fable ? blinx-revolutionnary-mario-killer,malice...)

the only thing xbox brang to the console gamers outside of the xbox live (we have the same for free on PC) is its superior graphical power, it's the only thing that could be bought..
nothing comparable to what nintendo brought to videogames.

by essence microsoft is not a gaming/entertainment company, they're only trying to diversify their sources of income.
they can succeed in this market and make some profits, but without the spirit.

Are we back to 2001?
Quote logic like this is so old, it should stay old.

An island of sense in a sea of generic "anti console x" arguments.

Wow, listing all the worse games on the system must really make you feel better about your purchase.

Anyone here could list the worse games on the GC (exclusives as well) and do the exact same, except they would realize how fan-like that was.

when i look at the worst titles published by microsoft, i can only think that i would have a hard time finding stinkers of that caliber published by nintendo.

perhaps you could give me a little help, you seem so sure about you...

oh so now you're switching form "exclusive" to "published by teh console manufacturer"? oh how convienent. I'd be willing to compare the two "if" Nintendo actually released as many games on gamecube as MS did on Xbox. MS did a whole lot of experimenting with new or small development houses, and who could blame them (except yourself obviously).

Do us all a favor and quit the attitude please? I think you're being a little too one sided in your argument. Feel free to disagree...

"Oh no! Teh bad man Microsoft is hurting my precious! He is mean and ugly and I wish he go away! Daddy, tell him to stop!"

oh you didn't see that titles i listed where all published by microsoft, and by purpose.
except the cultissim kabuki warrior, and it was a mistake.. i can't resist naming this stinker.

I'd be willing to compare the two "if" Nintendo actually released as many games on gamecube as MS did on Xbox.

excuses..
30 vs 46 .. doesn't seems an abysmal gap to me.
(only counting titles listed on gamerankings)

MS did a whole lot of experimenting with new or small development houses, and who could blame them (except yourself obviously).

excuses.. nobody forced microsoft to publish these titles, and if a title is not worth releasing, well.. you don't release. releasing trash is not a way of treating the customers.

it only shows that, as a publisher, nintendo and MS doesn't have the same standards.

when you are new on the market, and you want to make a good impression on the casual gamer, you have to fill the shelves with a lot of different titles.. i guess you have to make comprises.

Do us all a favor and quit the attitude please?

us ? you speak for someone else than you ? how many are you

I think you're being a little too one sided in your argument. Feel free to disagree...

i'm surely a little too on the wrong side..

Don't get me wrong, I have my own arguements... For instance, the Indrema? Totally sucktastic! Pippin? Laughable! :p ;)

Meanwhile in silly land...
let's see the list of titles and we'll compare them if you want.
do that if you want to..
"Hey, you list YOUR personal opinion on a pile of games, and I'll tell you MY personal opinion of them all. Won't that be hilariously fun and get us anywhere?!"

Holy crizzap, people. How about we just take things down a notch, instead?

I know. THERE IS NO PROOF. That's why the whole matter is just getting silly. Considering there are some who shrug away the "worthiness" of Halo ("just another boring FPS") or GTA ("overhyped crap") in moments, it's not like chewing away at dozens of smaller titles has the remotest hope of doing anything.

Yes SOOOO silly, so old.
To be honest i gone through my phase of MS xbox hating in 2000/1. :p
Not as clear cut rogue like, but still strongly. I think something just by go online makes i do it. Netizens subconscious?

Probably some kind of reaction to being forced to use Windows so much. :p I still itch to get off it for everyday purposes and just one around as a gaming rig. Almost daily I look at OSX and start crying...

the difficult part is proving my personal opinion has more value that qroach's one.

Right, that's why I said anyone here could do the same thing "except they would realize how fan-like that was. "
