These are all most likely "hardcore stores".
Yodobashi only has the version with camera sold-out in three stores: http://www.yodobashi.com/ec/news/100...002&store=0011
Amazon is apparently sold-out.
My earlier numbers seem way too optimistic, i'll go with 375k for the numbers released on monday and 550k for the first week.

I'm going to lower my numbers slightly from 250-300k to 200-250k on the next mediacreate (2 days of says). 300-350k by the end of the month.

Really hard to judge. Some places are sold out while others seem to have quite a bit of stock, which would explain the conflicting reports. It all depends on how many PS4s Sony reserved for the launch.

I hear part of the reason why the PS4 is hard to get in other regions is because some stock had to be diverted to Japan. They certainly haven't caught up to demand yet, that's for sure.

PS4 numbers suddenly got a massive boost from new players in Japan? 77k PS4 vs 37k One at 12PM est

Looking at Phil's stats that he has been scraping, a trend is hard to see. However, it does appear the cure has shifted up by about 20k the last 2 days. Some of that is bound the be the weekend as the other consoles also shift upwards by ~10K. Some of that may be Japan. It is hard to draw concrete conclusions until we see daily averages start shifting.

2 weeks before, PS4 players peaked at around 76-77k. Right now it's peaking at 82k. So it definitely got a boost. It could came from Japan or basically any other country because the demand for PS4 is still strong, thus a boost of 5k is easily attainable. With or without Japan, Sony would probably still sold PS4 as fast as they can make them. The numbers might be even higher for PS4 if they didn't have the Japan launch because FPS isn't as popular there compared to anywhere else.
From what I can see, PS4 numbers is rising steadily while PS3 numbers going down steadily. X1 and 360 numbers is basically not moving with 360 still having the upper hand.

messy graphs, for the longer ranges eg week/month they should be using the average of the previous 7/30 days, this way trends can easily be seen

I added two graphs for weekly and monthly that only shows PS4 and Xbox One so that the graphs can be more easily distinguished.

It is interesting indeed that the PS4 seems to have surpassed the PS3 now and is continueing to do so on average as well. I guess part of the reason would be PS3 users switching to a next gen console and either continuing playing there, or not playing [that game] at all.

About the Japanese launch... I'm still a bit skeptical. They might sell out initially, but I still think there isn't that much of games that I imagine are very Japanese targeted. If I am not mistaken, shooters have been successfull, but not anything like in Europe or NA. What the PS4 needs are some [j]RPGs, beat'em ups (like Tekken or Soul Calibur) and perhaps some racing games (e.g. something like GT or Ridge Racer). Has NFS ever been big in Japan?

PS4 Finally Selling Out at Japan’s Major Retailers, Second Shipment Already Coming Tomorrow

Blue
= in stock, Black = out of stock(with resupply date).

Edit; Oh, this list includes retail stores, i thought it was online stores only.
Seems like it is selling well, anything below 300k seems unlikely. :D

Oh so you made them,
what I meant is, is it really necessary to see the daily fluctuation in eg the monthly graphs. just have a single data point each day showing the average of the previous 30 days this way you can much easily see if more/less ppl are playing over time

Titanfall XBO has only risen to #7 on Amazon. Doesn't seem like it will even hit #1.

BF4stats...the PS4 has just been pulling insane numbers. I think I saw earlier where it was like 40k PS4 10k on XBO. It used to be much closer. I dont know what's going on. Either it's getting really bad for X1 in new sales, Playstation owners really gravitate to BF as opposed to other games (I do think BF is a more playstation franchise while COD is more Xbox), or the data itself is untrustworthy (I'd still like to verify in some way this data on any platform, but I do not own BF4 for any platform).

Well it's #19 on the best sellers for 2014. Making it the top selling next gen title this year, two weeks from release. But there is only 2.2 million + feb sales worth of X1s in the US. It going to need a pretty large attachment rate to do some really good numbers. I'm not aware what type of sales constitute hitting #1 on amazon though.

Yeah, I think there is a good chance you are right. Didn't the xb1 (last month npd) actually outsell the ps4 when it came to COD but the opposite when it came to BF4? I might be mistaken. Cod for the xb1 sits at 58 (amazon 2014 best sellers) while cod for the ps4 sits 43rd while the ps4 bf4 version sits at 46th and the xb1 sku is no where in sight.

these aren't "typical" graphs, these are RRD's. RRDs have very fixed data inputs and loss of resolution. It is possible to do avg or 95th percentile avg but as the data loses resolution those values become increasingly inaccurate.

I think he's talking about the bundle. I would have thought that an XB1 with a free copy of the platform's biggest title would land it at least a top 3 spot.

With that said, I think that both will be top 3 closer to the release date.

322,083 PS4's sold on launch in Japan in 2 days according to famitsu. Would have been low even if I kept my original guess. Not bad at all considering it's a non-holiday launch. Beat the Wii U, which did launch during the holidays. Will be interesting to see where it levels off.
