They will sell everything they have stockpiled in my opinion before Monday.

I'm going to guess at 1.2 million.

I'd say around 300k for week 1. Home console market isn't as healthy as it used to be in Japan.
I have to agree. I think people need to lower their expectations. I would love to be proved wrong though. It's not launching during the holidays either... I think that will affect the numbers too.

250-300k is my guess on next week's media create (which I believe will track 2 days of PS4 sales). By the end of February / after 1 week of sales, I think it will sell 350-400k. 6.3M PS4s sold worldwide by the end of February.

With that said, I still think the PS4 has the potential to do much better than the PS3, which did fairly well in its own right. Eastern developers will need to step it up this gen, though.

From GAF as usual

first day sellthrough

[3DS] Kuroko's Basketball: Miracle Victory - 40-50%
[PS3] Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi [Limited Edition] - 50-60%
[PSV] Chou no Doku: Hana no Kusari - Taishou Tsuyakoi Ibun < 50%

Shipment of PS4 will be 350k at most

So people predicting >500k are probably in the territory of impossible

Next media crete (~2 days of sales) will show...... 500-800k consoles.
As an official moderator and Knight of the Greater Pedantry, I have to place a Scorn upon your prediction as being far too broad. 500k would be considered perhaps a little low, and 800k quite good, so you're straddling two brackets. Anyone wanting to be so wussy about a prediction should just go with:

"Between 300k and 900k+"

Man up and choose 'well' (~800k) or 'meh' (500k) - something you can be held to and derided for being wrong (which of course affords you months' worth of gloating and a 15% increase to Reputation should you be correct).

I'm going to say; whatever Sony has allotted, that it will sellout within a 24hr period within Japan. My money is on them having 750k units available for launch...

:???: What's happened to the 1.4 million consoles a month then?

1.2 million a month production wise (IMHO), possibly supplying some 47-50 territories. The larger territories, like US and EU receiving the bulk of them. However, since the Japanese launch (pending period)... I would think the other territories including US/EU would suffer more because of the needed stockpile/buildup for Japan's February launch.

Dear Sir Knight, I shall remain vigilant in protection of my original sales divinations. Thy veiled threats are only suitable to move minds of lesser men than me.

Dagnabbit! I was gonna change your title from 'Senior Member' to 'Sissy', but my mod powers don't appear to extend that far!

Hm,, from what I can glean from the GAF thread the Japan hype seems a little muted. i think they were trying to say Amazon Japan didn't sell out instantly (but I think it did sell out later).

Dunno though. I guess Japan is really through with consoles if they are immune to PS4.

The lines dont really look crazy at all though. In fact in the first pic it's not even a "line" per se. And there's not tons of pics of these lines.

Like I said, seems muted a bit, that's my initial impression, will wait for numbers. Imagine it will be healthy.

Well surely japan would be at the forefront of online shopping?? Who stands in a line for hours these days, when amazon and god knows how many other retailers can send you your new ps4 on release day?

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but there is an interesting phenomenon going on that those who live in the initial batch of countries for the XBoxOne, may not be aware of.

I live in one of those northern european countries that didn't belong to to the initial launch for the XBox. It was supposed to launch in April, but it is already available at all the major Electronics chains.
Not only is it available, but boxes are on retail shelves waiting to be handed to customers, with Microsoft promoposters and stuff up. The sales clerks caution that the menues aren't in our language yet, so most are assumed to use the English language version of the OS.

For those people who claim that a price drop will change the fortunes of the XBoxOne, I can contribute another observation. Since the PS4 is in such short supply, the retailers are jacking up their prices, so the XBoxes for sale are actually cheaper than the PS4. The boxes still aren't moving.

Summary - there is such a surplus of XBoxOnes that stock is redirected to territories that weren't supposed to have them yet. Due to the PS4 shortage, the XBoxOne are actually offered at a lower price to end customers than the PS4. The stock is still sitting on shelves - note that we are not talking about sales tailing off after the initial feeding frenzy, there is no initial feeding frency!

It's weird seeing sales clerks promote a system that isn't even supposed to be available, because they actually have systems to sell to customers, whereas the system that was launched three months ago is difficult to find at all. And still people aren't buing the new XBox. If I hadn't seen it I would never have guessed or predicted it.
