And then as regards to next-gen, the tie ratios, I'm actually pretty bullish on what I'm seeing so far. Certainly, Sony has done well with the PS4 at -- when you compare it to the first 2 months of their launch on the PS3. They're up to 2.1 versus 1.9. Microsoft is a little down, the 2.6 attach on Xbox One versus Xbox 360, and this is U.S. only, during that similar period for launch, but I think a lot of that has to do with the some of the bundling activity we saw on a global basis, but certainly here in the U.S. I think it's been a solid start for both and we're incredibly bullish that, that will continue in FY '15.

Too bad Google does not have a Moore translator.

Wonder how many were bundled?

I would say at least 20%. Many retailers in the US are forcing bundles on customers because the PS4's demand is so high. Most stores don't even sell the standalone SKU online. Killzone is usually the game that gets bundled. I bought a KZ bundle, but I was gonna buy it anyway. I'm sure it was the same for many of the people that bought the KZ bundle.

Eurogamer - Sony: UK PS4 to Xbox One sales ratio is 1.5:1
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-30-sony-uk-ps4-to-xbox-one-sales-ratio-is-1-5-1
It was 1.45:1, so slightly more tilt towards PS4.. wander if XB1 will be able to get some support from Titanfall to decrease that ratio in favor of PS4.. But from what i have heard PS4 is still not readily available

More likely the ratio gets worse in the short term since the Ps4 supply is getting better. 1.5:1 was an artificial ratio do to supply constraints.

Infamous also comes out in March. I think Titanfall will probably sell more and move some hardware, but Infamous is also a pretty highly anticipated title. If Titanfall helps decrease the ratio, I don't see it being by much. If Sony puts a decent marketing budget behind Infamous and it is reviewed well, I can see it being a big hit, seeing as how both systems are pretty starved for software right now.

Ground Zeroes is also just 1 day away from Infamous, and MGS was always viewed to be a Sony-oriented franchise. I expect that its sales will have similar if not greater ratio like TR [aligned heavily to the PS4 side].

Eh, too be honest he could have rounded off. the .05 is too specific to attribute to some generic talking head, although I support the exercise.

Shipments of PS4's say, on Amazon seem really dried up right now (and Best Buy finally lost stock the last few days, though to be fair that must have been one ginormous shipment). We would need actual sales to discover anything, but I wonder if GDDR5 is causing actual supply constraints (I remember some article about what a gigantic amount of GDDR5 was needed for PS4 launch, that if XBO had also sported GDDR5 there likely would not have been enough supply to go around)

What are the current bets\guesses on PS4 sales numbers (not shipped numbers)?

We've got XB at ~3.7 million shipped, probably ~3.5 sold?

I'm going for ~5.2 million PS4s sold, ~5.8 million shipped.

Sony is said to be shipping 200-400k more than MS a month, so I think they are shipping record numbers.

I think the Xbox One probably sold less than 500k in Jan. Maybe 300k to be generous. I think PS4 is probably creating up on 5 million, but not over yet.

At the end of the year, XB1 was at 3.9 shipped, 3.2 sold I think. Given the ~1 million a month estimate for shipped, that would put them at ~4.9 shipped right now. That number is really approximate because we don't know if MS is stockpiling for other launches or what their exact production capacity is. Just that it was around 1 million and that coincides with the numbers through December. No guesstimates for sold.

PS was supposed to be shipping around 200-400k more than XB1. At the end of the year, they were at 4.2 sold, unknown shipped (we don't know how many were in the channel even if they were sold out at retail). So adding 1.4 would put them at ~5.6 million shipped right now. There has been more availability of late, so I don't expect them to have sold quite that many. Avoiding guesstimates here as well. I just don't think there is enough concrete information.

The PS4 sold 4.2M in ~1.5 months up to December 28th. The holiday / launch craze is over, and Sony probably stockpiled PS4s before launch, but I think they've surpassed 5M by now. I think BoardBonobo's guess of 5.2M is a pretty good guess, but I think there are less PS4s sitting unsold... ~300-400K at most, so ~5.5-5.6M shipped. The launch in Japan should give the PS4 a nice little boost.

Last we heard from MS was 3M sold, 3.9M shipped. I'm guessing they're at ~3.5M sold, ~4.4-4.5M shipped.

It was 3M sold IIRC.

They may be able to ship at a rate of 1M a month, but if stores still have plenty of stock, they're not going to keep re-ordering. They had ~900K in transit and sitting on shelves. I think they've shipped another 500-600K tops.

When u r expect plenty of stock and u expect only 500k sold then why u belive 500 - 600k will be ordered again.. These are low activity months and i dont think retailers will like to have large shipments in their warehouses to take up space when that item is not selling hotly. So i believe if retailers have sold 500k from the 900k then they wont be ordering more than 200k to keep inventory on the low side..

We will be getting Oct-Dec quarter shipment from Sony next week.. So we will know how much is their production and what are there revised forecast. I m sure they will not be keeping it same as they already are pretty near or surpassed 5M forecast for the fiscal yr ending Mar 2014

I originally said 100-200K but thought that was kind of low and changed it. I don't work in retail so I don't know how many units usually sit in warehouses in a situation where the item is not really supply constrained. But I think you're right, it's probably closer to 200k considering January is generally a slow month.
