Yeah it's basically upresed with a solid framerate vs variable. But I think the lack of advertising and price point were also major factors. If it was $29.99 with even a little advertising it would have sold decently.

Hopefully that will teach them upresed ports with no major graphics improvements aren't worth it...
As likely reasons for the low sales are it launching mid-month or much of the target audience having played it on PS3 and gave up in frustration! There are a lot of quitters out there :yep2:

It must have cost very little to port since there's no enhancement and not much publicity, so I guess it's a little investment for a little money.

Worth for the invaluable experience they gained on their PS4 engine and PS4 SDK, that surely will be reused on God Of War 4.

Zhuge posted some NPD life to date's on twitter

PS4 8.5 million
XBO 7.7 million
Wii U 4.1 million

Heh, I remember somebody on GAF a long time ago posting how the Wii U's headstart would give it an insurmountable install base lead...

As I've been saying, PS4 has enough of a lead that it seems unlikely XBO would overtake it this holiday, if it follows the same form as last holiday, but of course that's the big if. What if instead of just winning nov and dec big, XBO also takes sep and/or oct big? Or what if XBO doesn't win the holidays at all?

PS4 had almost a million lead at the end of Oct13, and Xbone managed to reduce that lead by a lot.

I don't expect Xbone to overtake PS4 in US after this holiday, but MS marketing machine will most surely again produce tons of amazing deals.

Yes by around 600k IIRC. That's why I say a 800k lead should be safe if things follow last year.

For me that's the central remaining interesting XBO/PS4 sales question of this generation, if Microsoft can claw back into the lifetime USA lead at any point before the generation ends. World should be long gone.

I think Sony shouldn't care too much, a virtual USA tie (if we assume it holds out) and dominating WW win for them is great. Forum goes probably put too much attention on the USA race than Sony itself does.

Sony last holiday supposedly had some stock issues as well as they concentrated getting stock into places like Germany and forgot the USA, they said so themselves. I wonder if they will be more prepared this year. Leaving aside price cuts, more prepared meaning more aggressive promotion and bundling, plentiful stock and things like that. OTOH for the 2nd consecutive year they've slacked on the software lineup but that's too late to change. It's possible Uncharted Collection has more broad appeal than Drive Club did anyway.

Seeing how the dollar and the euro are doing lately, and seeing the prices here compared to real exchange rates, I'm thinking Sony and MS make more money just out of the UK than half of the other european countries put together.

Seeing that Sony has increased it's PS4 sales forecast by 500k units (IIRC) by the end of the fiscal year (March 2016)... It would seem that Sony isn't to worried about MS XB1 marketing moves during the holiday season. I don't see Sony budging too much on the current PS4 price, nor having an awesome/outrageous bundling deals that MS tends to offer.

What I do see: is the big push from Sony promoting the exclusive bundles surrounding Star Wars, Metal Gear Solid V, Destiny The Taken King, COD: Black Ops, Drake's Fortune Collection and so-on.

Without the expensive Kinect hardware.

Which almost nobody wanted to own.

They forced it on consumers, and market reacted accordingly. PS4 sales were incredibly high during first 8 months Xbone was on the shelves [and man, Xbone was on EVERY SHELVE, pictures of almost untouched supplies [including day0 consoles with custom packaging] in stores/warehouses were plentiful during those months].

The statement was: "sold 12k on the first day." How is it clear that this was for a month? :???:

Seriously? Are you that dense or are you just so emotionally invested in this that you feel the need to move the goal posts? Nobody is talking about the time frame, what was being debated was whether or not it was a SINGLE STORE that sold 12k or ALL OF THE STORES.

Jesus Christ, what the hell is the matter with you people?

There was nothing confusing at all about the post from Rangers that was referencing a Best Buy employee's statement of events. There was clearly NO WAY that ONE SINGLE STORE sold 12,000 units in one day. If you want to dispute that ALL of the Best Buy stores sold 12,000 units in one day as a result of this promotion than, fine.

Feel free to do so and provide evidence as to how that isn't possible.

Seriously? WTF is the matter with you people?

Seriously? Are you that dense or are you just so emotionally invested in this that you feel the need to move the goal posts? People were discussing both the time frame AND whether it was one or across all stores. Just read the thread. Properly.

You're own post was addressing the issue of the time frame
