Well Best Buy had a deal getting a lot of press of a Samsung 40" TV and Xbox One bundle for $500. Evidently it's doing very well and a guy on GAF claims they sold 12k on the first day. Should provide X1 a NPD bump for August I suppose.

The trouble is, its not available for shipping and no local stores have it for pickup either. So it might be 12k total as most places sold out the first day.

No clue about that. Per GAF they are now possibly substituting Insignia or Toshiba models supposedly, which is a less attractive deal, but I guess means it continues somewhat.

Anyways even just 12k could make a dent in a slow month which August should be.

That sounds very very very unlikely for 1 days worth of sales at one retailer that accounts for around ~15% of total sales.

If I read it right, it suggests that one store had 12,000 Xbox One consoles and 40" Samsung TVs and that does sound quite a lot!

If this is the case - then yes.

BestBuy has roughly 1700 stores worldwide… a mixture of large format stores and mobile stores. Around 1000 of them (the large format stores) are located within the U.S. alone. Given that this was a U.S. specific (from what I gathered) deal... at best each U.S. BestBuy would have carried 12 Samsung models with that particular 40’ inch model (SKU). So yes, this would make sense...

Hmm I'm not sure why you'd conclude that, it was said here Best Buy has 1k USA stores. 12 sold per store does not seem unreasonable. Flippers alone would probably be all over this deal even if nobody else was.

But sure, some guy on reddit is just hearsay to some extent, it just sounded reasonable.

Anyways NPD in an hour! Should be a slow month almost nothing was released software wise. Rory Mcilroy and gow collection. I have a funny feeling Xbox could pull out some of these slow months like this one, but I'm not predicting that. August might seem more likely for that due to Best Buy deal.

I think you dont realize how large of a deal this is that is available in over 1000 stores

Also Cosmic Queso (NPD insider) said

Bundles are the new price drops friends. Over 90% of console hardware sales in July consisted of bundles.

Stands to reason I guess as not many non bundles are even available.

Not much surprise I guess. Slow month. "If you include bundle sales, Batman: Arkham Knight was "easily" the best selling title in July" seems to indicate the PS4 bundle is probably the defacto PS4 SKU and sold well.
