*$50 off any Xbox One console or bundle. Offer valid November 2, 2014 through January 3, 2015 at participating retailers.

So it isn't just bundle, but the non bundle version is also discounted $50. Of course people would rather buy the bundle version vs console only at the same price, but if the promotion ended, the console version only price should go back to their regular price ($399?).
Anyway, on MS website, they don't sell plain console, only bundles and I doubt people are stupid enough to non bundle version when with bundle it cost the same.

Edit: I found 1 console only sku on Amazon at $370 (discounted from $399). I assume Amazon is one of the participating retailers, thus this sku should cost $349, unless only give discount for an sku specially produced for the promotion period (which happens to not include console only sku).

I read all this thread while here in old europe the cheapest offer is the equivalent of 455 dollars for just the non kinect barebone console :S
Hope that next year they will think about us too

UK best sellers of 2014 http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/fifa...ame-of-2014-but-it-can-t-match-frozen/0143432

01. FIFA 15 (EA) - 2,663,296 / NEW
02. Call of Duty: Advance Warfare (Activision Blizzard) - 1,837,025 / NEW
03. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar) - 1,341,472 / 5,011,796
04. Destiny (Activision Blizzard) - 937,235 / NEW
05. Watch Dogs (Ubisoft) - 808,799 / NEW

Someone posted last few years of COD sales (I suppose in their release year)

2010
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops [Activision Blizzard] – 3,266,298

2011
2 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - 2,814,609 - Game

2012
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Activision Blizzard –––– 2,672,364

2013
5. Call Of Duty: Ghosts (Video Game) – Activision Blizzard – 1,991,994

2014
3. Call of Duty: Advance Warfare – Activision Blizzard (1,837,025 units sold)

Clearly declining but I expect increasing digital will make up a bit of that gap, plus, it's still the 2nd best selling game of the year.

Also good for Destiny IMO. And Watch Dogs.

So, this may be the last update for December. Depending on when it actually got updated. I didn't check mid-week rankings to see if it's unchanged since then so I'll check it again in a few days just in case.

01 - XBO: AC (unchanged)
15 - PS4 (up 3 spots)
90 - PS4: Destiny (unchanged)

So a bit of a late push by PS4. Of course, with XBO: AC in the top spot, there's no way to even infer how much more they sold over that same time period. But at least PS4 moved enough units to move up the rankings chart before the end of the month.

9 Microsoft, 5 Nintendo, 6 Sony titles in the top 20. Unchanged since the last one. However, PSN gift cards now take 3 of the spots in the top 20 (3, 5, 17). Looks like a lot of people bought PSN gift cards with their Christmas money?

Because of that, there's actually only 2 PS4 games in the top 20 versus 3 XBO and 3 X360 games. Oh, and NIntendo's breakdown is 1 Wii-U, 1 Wii (!!!), and 3 3DS titles.

Now to see how things change for January. With the temporary price reduction going away for XBO, will sales crash? Will they keep some of the momentum from the Holidays? Will there be a new promotion?

SB

COD? I'm more referring to the overall consistent decline of the franchise in UK numbers since 2010...

Hard to say how much digital is of course but I doubt it's increasing anywhere near making up a 3.2->1.8 gap. And the past years would have some digital sales as well, the growth is probably gentle in digital (with perhaps some spike with intro of day and date next gen).

It's hard to say what effect digital has on console at the moment, but considering the frequency with which PSN gift cards are being purchased, it'd be fair to say that DD is likely accelerating at a faster pace than in previous years.

For example, using Amazon's yearly charts.

2012 - No PSN gift cards in the top 20. One XBX 1600 point card at 07.
2013 - [01 - 20 USD], [05 - 50 USD], no XBX gift cards
2014 - [01 - 20 USD], [02 - 10 USD], [03 - 50 USD], [13 - XBX 10 USD]

And 2015 is starting off with PSN cards at [01 - 20 USD], [02 - 10 USD], [03 - 50 USD] and XBX cards at [06 - 10 USD], [18 - 25 USD], [20 - 20 USD]. Of course, that's only 3 days worth of sales, so who knows what the final standings will be for the year. But it shows a trend that gift cards for digital purchases is increasing YoY.

So it is entirely possible that COD: AW outsold COD: Ghosts. Quite likely, IMO. And a smaller possibility that COD: AW will match or exceed COD: BO2 sales. As well that COD: Ghosts was probably a lot closer to COD: BO2 than physical sales would lead us to believe.

Speaking of which. The first update for Jan. 2015 before the XBO discount goes away...

07 - XBO: AC
11 - PS4

Well, only having 2 consoles to track sure does make things easier. :D

Holy hell. Halo 5 collector's edition pre-order up for 249.99 USD and it's currently at [47]. 250 USD. For a game. And it's selling. A lot.

Lots and lots and lots of Skylanders stuff.

9 Microsoft, 8 Sony, 2 Nintendo, and 1 Skylander items in the top 20. Sony takes the top 3 spots with gift cards at noted in the previous post. Microsoft with another 3 spots taken by gift cards. 2 accessories, 1 each Sony and Microsoft. 2 XBL cards and 1 PS+ card. Leaving just 5 spots for physically packaged games. :p Go go, digital delivery!

I expect all of the above to change significantly before the end of the month. Except possibly for PSN gift cards holding the top 3 spots. Good chance they might end the month in that position.

Is evolve the next big game that will have an xbox promotional push ? I know there is a beta deal going on with them.

If so I bet MS lets the price stay at $400 until evolve hits and then puts the standard xbox one to $350 and the evolve bundle hits at $400 .

It is a big surprise. I think when the 20nm process node is ready for mass production then Xbox One and PS4 price will go down to 299 dollars/euros. The question is 2015 or 2016...

Amazon is now $399 along with BestBuy, Tiger Direct, EB Games and some other. There are lingering $349 prices still, but I bet they are going to go away soon.

Yup, I just checked this (about 12 hours later) and it's all bouncing back up to $399 with a few market-place sellers clearing out inventory at the $349 price.

Interesting the PS4 free game deal on Amazon seems to have expired around the same time. Now it will be $399 for both, but the XB1 has one good AC game and Unity.

Yep. weirdly it was 329 at Amazon for a while even after other retailers had raised back to 399. But now it is up to 379 even at Amazon. Although that is from a 3rd party seller. I suppose they are basically clearancing the Unity bundles and then those are done? A 399 no games X1 may not even make the Amazon top 100 (it's not currently I think).

So..... Where are the figures? We're basically in mid 2015 now and we still don't know the final 2014 numbers? Useless.
NPD could be this Thursday, since it's supposed to land on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 4pm PST IIRC
