I hope this fact of media talking about Chartzzzz because NPD gives them nothing grows. So that either NPD is pressured to release a few numbers again to stay in the news, or heck maybe even Chartzzzz becomes legit someday.

I don't think NPD care about staying in the news, their business is collecting and selling sales data to their clients. I also hope we get NPD figures but Ben if we don't, the PR firms will let us know who is selling most per month.

I see a site like Dailytecyh is covering Vgchartz numbers...http://www.dailytech.com/New Report Sony PS4 Microsoft Xbox One BOTH Had Record Black Friday Weeks/article36969.htm

VGChartz and the DailyTech blog are similarly trustworthy in regards to the accuracy of information presented. It's a perfect match.

Have we not had either of Microsoft or Sony claiming victory for the month yet?

Also, how are the charts looking on Amazon for the month of December so far, Xbox One still selling near November standards?

Even I'm a bit shocked here. I'm surprised it's besting all the game titles in front of it as well.

Me too, I wouldn't have expected this.

I think possibly Xbox just got some momentum rolling, and maybe more 360 owners did hold off.

Obviously by Amazon you would think One will take December as well. November AND December is serious, it's not a one off anymore.

Anyways I think NPD is this thursday already, so thats nice.

yes, something seems a little off, I fund it hard to believe a console sold more than any one game so far in December...looks like as ever MS have strong November and December - be interesting to see how long it lasts

They could two do months at the current price in one territory. Then the price in that one territory goes back up. What happens then?

If this was the other company, I'm sure the spin would be "They must be running scared now to have to stoop to such a level to include games".

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/12/psa-400-ps4-now-officially-comes-with-one-of-four-free-games/

As part of Sony's "Four Games, One Pick" promotion, new PS4 systems will now come with a voucher that can be redeemed online to download a copy of either Destiny, Far Cry 4, NBA 2K15, or Little Big Planet 3. The 500GB systems still sell for the same MSRP of $399.99, a price Sony hasn't lowered since the system first went on sale late last year. Sony previously offered a Glacier White PS4 system bundled with Destiny, but that package came at a suggested price of $450. It's unclear how long the free game offer will last.

Personally, I see this as a sign of Sony acknowledging the tremendous value that Microsoft are offering with their existing bundles - and the sales they're likely bagging. Nobody wants to drop the sticker price but bundling a free game has always been seen as to cheaper method of adding value.

Not really following, Sony is widely reported to be selling 2:1 so its kinda hard to spin this as 'running scarred' OTOH while XB1 is selling better than 360 at this point, it isn't selling as well as the PS4 and the media will always present the leader in a different light.

Do you really believe that Sony would have released these bundles if they had steam rolled Xbox in sales the last 5 weeks?
This is clearly a reaction. No one is saying it's a sinking ship, but taking the right corrective measures and watching your business carefully is how you stay in business.

Where did I say otherwise? My comment was about the interpretation of their actions.

And to be clear do you truly think Sony has been steamrolled last month and mtd in December world wide?

As a way to cool down some of the obvious X1 momentum? Of course!

No, but that's the thing, even if they did or didn't whatever MS did was enough to elicit a response.
You feel that because Sony is the leader that we are interpreting this bundle as a response, when it could just be status quo. I get that, except Sony isn't exactly swimming in cash either. Why make less money when you can make more?
MS had to drop the kinect, bundle in games, and drop the price all in the course of the year to meet expectations.

And that's all it is.

If Sony feels that they aren't meeting their business goals then incentives need to be made to reach those goals, but to think that Xbox (for the last 5 weeks) had no role in influencing their ability to meet those projections, I'd disagree. How do you go from being #1 and #4 always top 20 on Amazon to 41 and 49, it is quite a swing considering Microsoft was in the reverse position for the last 10 months.
