Little over 60k for WiiU is bad... and silence from MS is a big hint that they are far behind this month. They did not react even with "Xbox Family" spins.

‏@geoffkeighley - Xbox on May sales: "Xbox One is off to the hottest start in Xbox history....We look forward to the next chapter of the new generation."

lol.

MS will state something; just not the important blurb (XB1 sales). Lots of frivolous dribble about gamers upload stats, zombies shot, and the Xbox family is growing tag lines.

MS did announce Kinectless XB1 early on in May. I assume this would help account for lower sales in May for the platform. If June sales are similarly appalling then MS should start to worry, but if sales pick up then not so much a worry. Though they better get at least 150k in June, seeing summer months and all. If they can't crack that then there are serious issues.

Nintendo's seen a decent uptick with Mario Kart, now all they need to do is repeat that over the coming months.

Sony did better than the competition as per usual this generation. If the trend continues along this path then they will likely end up dominating this gen. It wouldn't be surprising to me in the slightest.

Given all the known sales of next gen systems so far, including Wii U, what is the percentage each console holds so far?

I dont know if Sony will dominate NA, I think they will lead... But in EU/Asia I think they will dominate absolutely.

Moral of the story: Never overestimate your branding. Not like these companies will learn from it anyway.

When Sony posts a loss that's not in the billions, let me know.

what does Sony's loss have to do with sales numbers?

OT - XB1 numbers were likely hurt by early announcement of the price cut, it will be interesting to see what sort of rebound they have in coming month due to buyers who held off for price cut.

I think E3 might give them a bit of a boost too. Same goes for Sony, I think we'll see much better numbers for both platform holders.

This is not your typical price cut. They are hacking off the very thing that was supposed to be central to every X1. Their branding is really fucked up atm (I am sure I dont have to explain why), it will take some time to build it back up.

NPD backlash most likely...

XB1 had plenty of unofficial price cuts, freebies and Titanfall during the previous months (didn't unseat the PS4), so I don't see this being very relevant from a price/performance standpoint when compared to the PS4. Relevant would be $299 for a Kinectless XB1...

Given that 2015 will be more relevant for both systems (specifically 1st party internal wares), I'm more inclined to believe 2014 will solidify PS4 as the system of choice for multiplatform games, IMHO.

GAF...

PS4 ~ 194k
3DS ~ 87k
XB1 ~ 76k
Wii U ~ 60k
360 ~ 57k
PSV ~ 56k
PS3 ~ 36k
Wii ~ 11k

Ouch XB1...
Most up-to-date numbers (small corrections):
Code:
PS4 ~ 197k
3DS ~ 97k
XB1 ~ 77k
Wii U ~ 61k
360 ~ 57k
PSV ~ 56k
PS3 ~ 36k
Wii ~ 11k

So pretty much the same as April for PS4. Neither good or bad I guess, considering it's a slow shopping month, but not a slow month software wise.
