It's probably due to single DVI signals topping off at 1920*1200.

Computers these days have HDMI output (especially 4k generating ones) so I don't really see an issue.

Sure. When I order mine I'll just up the qty one increment and forward it along. Should be any day now. Just need to start buying lottery tickets...

Interesting that they're still using SXRD, which has been around a long time.

Does $40k include the speaker and storage units or are those extra?

I would bet they fall in the margin of error of $40k in any event. What's another $5k or so when you're spending 40.

You can get better speakers. It won't fit in the overall design but will be better.

At those prices, they're not manufacturing a lot. Probably a few hundred or thousand will be ever made.

I wonder how long before us mortals can own such a device, because I'd sure love one even if at just 1080p.

Well. I finally got the TV setup last night. I'm moving in properly tomorrow (been going to the house after work to setup furniture)
Will finally get to hook up the PS4 and 4K server tomorrow too.

The TV is pretty damn good. I was concerned the black levels were going to be poor, but when setup right it seems very good for an LCD. The backlight has some pretty bad clouding issues when the backlight is high, but my previous edge led TV did too when I first got it (seemed to reduce significantly with time) - so I presume it'll take some time to break in.

I have to say, the passive 3D is exceptional. No eye strain, no flicker, no ghosting.

I bought some led-strip lights to illuminate behind the TV too

I had a birthday yesterday, but I still see no projector? I was certain that it would have popped up yesterday.

I think this should be decided based on post count, which everyone knows is the most important thing in the universe. Mods not included (sorry Shifty honey), and the winner should be based in Europe because I say so (sorry patsu).
Which means.... I win! OMG thank you guys!!

Well damn at first I thought you were talking about the 40k Sony projector, I was really impressed! All this 4k talk lately has been getting me to rethink my own websites and how I film the content, and I think I'm going to switch to all 4k recording as well. Yeah it'll take some years for peoples tv's to be 4k but heck my customers all use laptops, tablets and phones many of which are already way past 1920 x 1080 resolution. Time to step up my game! Fortunately Sony has some killer 4k cameras about to come out, I pre-ordered their AX100 which comes out in March. That gives me another excuse to upgrade our main tv to 4k as well. I thought about doing it for pc gaming but didn't want to splurge just for that one thing. Now I have a business reason as well :) From the sound of it though from what Robert and others have said it seems like I'd be better waiting some more on the 4k tv front.

I am really encouraged by the fact that manufacturers are serious at improving image quality beyond just the increase in resolution. Stuff like Dolby Vision being in the Vizio reference set (and no 3D to be found!) really addresses my concerns about the industry focusing on the wrong things. The whooping they have been taking might actually have beat some sense into the product development teams at some of these companies!
