[360, PS3] Crysis 2

Great new video of multiplayer showcasing several newer before seen multiplayer maps. It also does makes a good showcase for effects, vast draw distances, huge maps, effects, water etc.


I would have taken screenshots but HD version is reserved for Gamespot plus members and next highest quality version is garbage quality (above one for YT HD).

Another thing that worries me, they talk about all the suit options, but in the demo all I wanted to do was stealth/invisibility all the time. I'm sure most people will be the same way. I guess they could buff armor to get people to use it, but they talk about all the options and such when I think by nature 90% of people are just going to use stealth, because it's just cooler than the other powers.

This is pretty much exactly how i played the first game on PC (in single player mind you). I think it would be very difficult for me to play a Crysis game any other way. 99% of my time in Crysis was spent sneaking through undergrowth to get to a dude so i could pop him in the head from point blank range :) Crysis the first game was for me a tactical espionage game, and i effectively played it like i would play MGS or splinter cell.

I think part of what forced me to play like that was the shoddy AI in the first game and the fact that the enemies didn't show up on ur scanner until you spotted them, so half the time if you just tried trudging through the wilderness you'd end up alerting an entire troop and getting hammered before you could even see the enemies.

I think many people would have played Crysis like that and thus would have more of an affinity for invisibility in C2... i dunno :-S

Now see, this footage looks like console footage, but I'm not seeing any texture or geometry pop-in. So can this give any sign of hope that they fixed such issues for the console versions or it's safer to assume this is just the PC running at console settings?

Honestly when I think about the geometry pop-in, I think it would be better just to get rid of what few objects do pop in abruptly. We would never know they were missing if we didn't know they were there to begin with. It's not like the game would be sterile or plain with these few objects removed since there is still a good amount of items that load correctly and have no pop-in issues.

For me, being adaptive and using the best suit power for the current situation seemed to work best. If I'm crossing an open area, I'd cloak, actually while moving in general, I'd be cloak. However the moment I heard a gun shot near me, I'd disable cloak and go into armor mode.

Due to the cloak tracking mod, I tried not to rely too much on cloak as it could give me a false sense of safety.

What's nice when looking at those is knowing that unlike regular corridor FPS games, there shouldn't be any invisible walls or anything to prevent you from getting to just about any location you can in single player if you have the capability.

That's the one aspect of corridor shooters I don't like. You see an alley or hill you "should" be able to go into or climb, but there's an invisible wall or 2 foot high railing you can't jump over :)P) that prevents you from going out of the designated area. That's the one thing Crytek have been good about. Especially Crysis (versus FarCry) where you could do super jumps and get to places the devs really didn't expect you to get to. :D Although if you swam too far out to sea in Crysis I think there were some Destroyers out at sea that would blast you to bits.

I wouldn't be surprised if, like Halo Reach, many of the MP maps are part of the SP campaign.

Wow that Crysis2TV was some of the most pedestrian looking footage yet. Maybe it's the terrible, terrible quality. I imagine there's not a better version?

Definitely console version :LOL:

Crytek is coming out with like a video a day now, hah.
 
Nebula do you think the console versions will look like the PC version on medium? Something tells me it's a little too good to be true.

Wouldn't the PC version be using a lot more RAM than the consoles have at any setting?

To little seen to make any conclusion but I would assume somewhere at low-med with perhaps some higher settings but in a custom config way. Dont think much ofa conclusion can be made by looking at memory footprint in PC version as in previous page low to high had 1,4GB memory footprint.

One shot posted of editor showed preset settings. It had medium choosen but there was 360 and PS3 option to. I think a 360 demo video had same view so perhaps that can be used to compare shadow and LODs?

In some scenes the game goes into the low 20s on an overclocked GTX 260 at medium settings. There is no way in hell the console versions will be anywhere near medium.

Though there cant be conclusive judgement as this is leaked beta. It was never meant to be present for non developers. It is also relative to resolution, DX9 expensive SSGI workaround, glitches stalling framerate based on videos, clipping issues making whole scene being rendered when it should not etc.

That said from what I've read it isn't full game leaked. There is a ton of things missing and beta leak is semi-broken (as expected).

Should be interesting to see some console setting footage particular the ps 3 version and why they won't show it.

Aah the internet is full of rumors from sony blocking cryteck to show footage because of killzone 3 and microsoft paying cryteck to only show 360 footage because they have nothing to show.I love the internet.;)
 
Yeah though it might still differ despite using 360/PS3 settings from realconsole IQ as shaders might have differences to and how rendering is done. But as a finger pointer it should be quite good. That said I dunno if anyone would do it and I certainly wont download the leak. Gotta be strong and show some spine!

But when I bought the game and got it in my hands then maybeee I'll get it... :LOL:
