[360, PS3] Crysis 2

http://www.next-gen.biz/features/crysis-2-interview

Crysis 2 will have a PC version that’s a PC game. We’re going to push it as much as the engine can take. It’ll be at least as beautiful as Crysis, but the context is different. It’s New York. Not a jungle, but an urban jungle.

The gameplay has received much more research about accessibility, streamlining and making it more fun, but also making it deeper. So every angle is improved. The amount of diligence and production volume we’ve spent makes it so much better than Crysis.

There was a bit of confusion over the source of the latest screenshots released. Which platform did they came from? PC?

I think they were a mix. There was one 360 and the others were PC. But honestly, the PC version hasn’t been shown off yet at all. They were rendered out of PC but at console settings. The PC settings aren’t being disclosed at all right now. We haven’t made any screenshots yet that show the PC settings.

Electronic Arts’ world-class animation tech – made famous in numerous EA Sports titles – is being employed in both the Medal of Honor reboot project and Crysis 2.

- Animation Engine - It's called ANT (ANimation Toolkit), and it's shared technology among nearly all of the EA Sports games. ANT provides two things: 1.) a 'tool' which allows us to prepare our raw animations for the game (i.e. tagging when a player is down or what injury impact a tackle has on which body part), and 2.) in-game technology to actually execute all these animations. Anything custom to our game (and NCAA) is built as a plug-in to ANT...so it's actually not part of the low level animation engine. This includes things like IK Foot Pinning, Multi-Character Alignment (for tackles, blocks, etc), Catching, etc

How much is Nano edition anyway?

I was doing a survey about Crysis 2, and I learned a pre-order nets you some actually desirable things, such as MP start at level 5 (so all classes unlocked at start). Oh yes you also get a "hologram decoy", akin to Reach's hologram armor power, besides the usual cosmetic stuff (weapon skin etc)

It kind of sucks, I prefer not to pre-order games, my preferred method is simply to purchase them at Wal Mart, often at 12 midnight as well, not an option at Gamestop unless they are doing a midnight launch. Also I get a 15% discount at another major retailer, who doesnt do pre-orders. Too me, pre order basically means gamestop only.

It's annoying the focus on pressuring customers into pre-order, pre-order, pre-order from publishers...I dont want to pre order! I understand why they do it, but still.

The screens were at console settings...

And I'm pretty sure Cevat is not entirely sure what he's talking about there either. At least two of the screens I've seen look way too good...

As an example, this one : http://www6.incrysis.com/screenshots/c2e3screen4.jpg

Now this one looks more like a console screenshot: http://www6.incrysis.com/screenshots/Crysis2_Screen5_05122010.jpg

Highlighted part. I disagree, looking past the KZ2™ blur filter and SSAA you can discern that it looks like console footage. Well IMO.

Great new video of multiplayer showcasing several newer before seen multiplayer maps. It also does makes a good showcase for effects, vast draw distances, huge maps, effects, water etc.

I would have taken screenshots but HD version is reserved for Gamespot plus members and next highest quality version is garbage quality (above one for YT HD).

I hope so, though I think you can't truly test your netcode until your game is out in the wild. As long as it's better than the demo, then I'll be happier.

About the new trailer:

They are going all out on the sheer depth of unlocking. Mimicking COD. Question is will people cotton to their version of it.

With such deep systems I worry as usual about balance. Some of the abilities will be useless and some will probably be overpowered.

The announcer says at one point something like "the nanosuit is state of the art, 2023 state of the art". Heh, I am pretty sure we will not have nanosuits in 12 years.

Another thing that worries me, they talk about all the suit options, but in the demo all I wanted to do was stealth/invisibility all the time. I'm sure most people will be the same way. I guess they could buff armor to get people to use it, but they talk about all the options and such when I think by nature 90% of people are just going to use stealth, because it's just cooler than the other powers.
