[360, PS3] Crysis 2

Keep in mind that some of the tearing could actually be one of the nanosuit glitches which looks very much like tearing but isn't. But yeah, I doubt that was the PC version.

Aye. I remember once someone asking if I had vsync off becouse some of my screenshots had tearing like vsync off. Though it is the nanosuit helmet display loosing power or failure shader effect when getting hit badly together with chromatic aberration effect.

I can tell you for sure (well...99,9% sure ;) ) that it's 360 version. I've been to EA events and they've shown Crysis 2 on 360 there, exactly the same level and sequences and it looked exactly like that

In their interview with Executive Producer Nathan Camarillo, Gamerzines has provided an answer for those of you who have been wondering why to this date only the Xbox 360 version of Crysis 2 has been demonstrated live.

The reason, of course, is that it's a marketing decision by publisher Electronic Arts. As Nathan put it:

It's easier to wow people from the bottom up and continue to wow them

Yeah I like it that a weapon with such ammo is portable. The effect is much like a simpler but still great version of the Warhead mounted 50cal gun with explosive rounds or such. Though I didn't get the impression of seeing volume dust building up which is something I think they need to add to consoles as it makes for a great warzone with dust clogging view as destroyed material is pulverised.

I think, if the put this much effort and detail into such a single "not so important" effect, it is a good sign for the overall production quality of the final product!!

I downloaded a teaser video from the US PSN yesterday and was pretty disappointed. While the city itself looks pretty good the lighting and texturing on the soldiers' faces looks absolutely terrible.

I hope this is just an old build because if this is what the game is going to look like on the PS3 it's lightyears behind what KZ2 and even MW2 offer.

The page still loads extremly slow. Got russian text though it should not...

Sounds interesting that Crysis 2 might be 3D ready.. for all platforms!

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming/2010-06-14-vidgame14_VA2_N.htm

On display this week:

The futuristic shooter action game Crysis 2 promises to be the first major game available in 3-D on the three major high-def game platforms when it is released later this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs. "The success of 3-D movies like Avatar and the introduction of 3-D TVs from the hardware manufacturers tells us that this is the next big movement in entertainment, much like HD was years ago," says Cevat Yerli, CEO of Frankfurt-based Crytek.

Both versions of the game (2-D and 3-D) will have the same content.

Even the game's multiplayer mode will be playable in 3-D. "For games especially, 3-D gives gamers an increased level of immersion, which can enhance an intense experience like Crysis 2," Yerli says.

What? The skin shader in the soldiers is one of the best (if not the best) in modern games :???:

Is it? Is this the shader you're talking about?

The images are to blurry to judge it but since I've seen the high bitrate HD video it sure looks better but not unbelievable. Naturally some notches under skin shading in the other Crysis games but to say KZ2 and MW2 has skin shading that looks miles better is just over the top exaggerated, especially when both those games seems to have what looks like LDR lighting that dont really light up faces/skin naturally to begin with.

MW2/KZ3 skin.

Yap, I posted it in the 3D Gaming thread.

I guess we will see 3D footage on (at least) the PS3 this E3 ? Sony should have spare 3DTVs lying around to boost their 3D campaign.

They can just connect either platform to a 120Hz LCD monitor. And I might be wrong but Crytek seems to greatly favor the Samsung brand as that is what I see for their monitors/TVs! :p

 120Hz LCD may not be adequate. They should find a better 3DTV. The Samsung one I tried didn't look as good as the Sony and Panasonic ones. I am sure Sony is hard-up for 3D demoes too.
