[360, PS3] Crysis 2

It wasn't even required, as the previous games have a "suit shortcuts" option that lets you double tap various commands to switch between suit powers; jump or melee for strength, crouch for cloak, sprint for speed, and back for armor. I much prefer that system, particularly the fact that you can power jump instantly, rather the the delayed power jump in Crysis 2.

Actually the the power jump in Crysis was delayed as well, and it infact took you longer to make the 2nd jump after you land the first one, when compared to the time it takes in Crysis 2. and changing the mode took some time as well, so it balances out well imo.

You aren't using the "suit shortcuts." Turn it on in the control options menu, then tap jump twice quickly. The first tap instantly starts you on a regular jump, and the second tap switches the suit to power mode and turns the regular jump into a power jump. The same works melee too, and provides for delay free switching to power mode for power moves unlike Crysis 2.

Its their art direction, its the choice they took and tbh its pretty realistic in its portrayal of Africa as far as looks go.

The models in the game feel very flat, but I do enjoy the game itself and what it set out to do. And the Jackal I think is a pretty awesome character.

You can't really blame Crytek for the limitations of console controllers.

Huh? what's the D-pad for then?

down is nano vision
up is visor/Binocular in crysis 1 mode
left is select underbarrel or other weapon attachments.
right is selecting explosions(you can double tap Y for selecting nade).

To be fair they could have mapped strength to double tap A easily.
But i think it wouldn't feel natural and you have to release the right stick.
Not sure how i would feel to use a skill wheel like mass effect to choose a suit powers. If think about it. It could feel natural just hold RB and select suit mode fast. That makes LB/L1 free to use as nade button. Dont know how they did it in crysis 1 it was controller compatible so it was posibble why not keep that button mapping instead of care bearing console gamers all the time. Now you just betray(strong word dont know other word) your loyal fans. Would be like if 343 studio changed halo into 1 burst kill call of duty clone.

I was thinking about that too; holding down LB/RB to bring up the wheel, and tapping it a certain number of times to quick-select suit powers. Not as intuitive and easy as quickly tapping LB/RB once, but you would also gain the use of an extra button.

Gave in an bought the limited edition. Which, strangely enough, was actually cheaper than the regular edition on Amazon!!

Beat the game last night. Took me around 7-8 hours which is a good length. Really liked the SP. Even though it wasn't the most polished game I've played, it was one of the best FPS I've played in a while.

I played it in 3 long gaming sessions. Despite any complaints I have, the pacing was great. I didn't want to stop, even during frustrating moments where I was getting killed consistently (for my first run through, I played on Very Hard).

As far as alien enemies go, it seems Crytek was highly influenced by Halo, with various tiers of enemies, including ones with shields that required a lot of work to break through, but most noticeably the very large enemies are very reminiscent of Hunters. Then you have the sneaky and devilish human enemies which in numbers become a huge pain in the ass. Crysis 2 has much better gunplay than Halo though. :p

The suit shortcuts in the previous games work fine with a controller, except double tapping back for armor mode, but they could have used the power, stealth and speed shortcuts just like the first game and kept armor on it's own button, leaving the other bumper for throwing nades rather than having to double tap Y to to switch to them before throwing one.

A is jump either way, so you pretty much have to take your thumb off the right stick to hit it or do some fancy finger maneuvering, but double tapping it hardly takes any more effort regardless.

I have the PC version of the game, but I'm wondering if the following problem is platform specific (also posted in the PC section):

Guys, I'm having this feeling that I'm missing out on some ports of the game. I feel that some missions end earlier than they should. For example:

In the level where you have to go to the church, when you enter the church you see this invisible alien, when you chase him, a cutscene comes up and after the cutscene you're 10 stories high.. I've also had this sequence when the aliens invade and you fall out of the chopper (when lockheart captures you), I had to kill some aliens and after killing all the aliens you see this alien pod falling from the sky, the objective is to escape but while running to the objective, the mission ends. The next mission started with Alcatraz laying on his back.. I thought it was weird and decided to youtube a walktrough up to that point, and the player who made the walktrough had a different experience. In the walktrough, when you try to escape you encouter a bigger alien who shoots you down, explaining why I woke up on my back the next mission

Weird...

I beat the game last night. It truly was an awesome ride. I hope more games take this open approach to gameplay and level design.

The story is about as generic as can be. Nothing you haven't seen a million times before. But at least most of it is told in-game, as it should be. Destroyed New York provides an great setting for the game, and your usually right in the middle of it while it's being torn apart.

I started over again, this time on Veteran. I got to keep all of the powers and weapon attachments I had on Normal. I'm taking different routes than I did before, and I'm trying to find the weapons and attachments I missed the first time around. The Nova with the silencer is proving to be very effective.

As long as people could be mature enough to realize it's only his opinion and that they aren't forced to share his opinion,
I guess I'm not a mature person then. At a first glance at his comment I thought he stated that Crysis 2 has better looking ATMs then any other video game

They should have hired more voice actors for regular soldiers for this game. I lost track of how many times I've killed a guy that sound like the Sarge from Bad Company.

I'm fairly certain they used the same guy that voices prophet to voice soldiers as well. It's really jarring for me. /immersion
