[360, PS3] Crysis 2

I was told the ps3 demo is retail code instead of the 360 patched up alpha code:D. And want to know how the game performs.

I thought the PS3 demo released last week......or was it this week?

I posted the vid where the crytek dev said the PS3 demo was the same build as retail, so soon you should be able to download and play it yourself.

Yes the PS3 demo is supposed to release today, March 15.

I dont know when PSN gets stuff up though, judging from my last look at Neogaf it isn't available yet.

1UP Game Night says they will be livestreaming/playing an early single player level on Xbox 360 this afternoon here http://via.pulsene.ws/15nXz

Time: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 5:00PM PST
Location: Watch the embedded video player above.

They will also be taking audience questions.

Also just saw this on twitter

Crytek Crysis
Sony will push the @Crysis 2 Multiplayer demo live between 4pm and 8pm PDT today.

Umm, thought nearly every PS3 game had an install.

If anything by some twisted logic big install=good because, more stuff=more advanced!

I hope, but most of times it's a bad sign :???:

Absolutely. Most games optimised for PS3 these days use 'install-on-demand' and employ streaming from BD to HDD during gameplay/cutscenes to get rid of both load-times and installs altogether.

Also, the manuals I've seen for CryEngine 3 posted in another thread here suggest there is very little PS3 optimisation in other areas too, like a complete absence of vertex culling and stuff like that to help out the RSX ...

What new PS3 games use this streaming/install on demand/no install system?

Guess I'm out of the loop but I thought most PS3 games=install.

I know its technically irrelevant, but after the only few leaks about ps3 version from now (1024x720p, 4 GB of installation, total absence of a clear HD videos, your assumption above) continue to lean in the same directions... obviously will see something of more concrete later, but I will be more surprised to constate the opposite.

Yes, but this mammuth size install are become rare even in the most of third parties games by years... even the immense area of Brotherhood take 1 GB less in the HDD...

But those games often are highly linear with heavily predicatable player actions/navigation.

They use coverage buffer on consoles to cull which is done on CPU. Obviously this is not optimal for PC as it means IIRC that frambuffer or some buffer needs to be shuffled between VRAM and RAM so PC instead uses handplaced culling proxies.

Played two rounds (one on Skyline, other one one Piere)... it looks pretty much the same as 360 version too me, but framerate is definitely lower.

Just watched the 1up livestream, what I could see looked pretty good, it was a city level but quality was too low and maybe there was some way to increase quality but I didn't see it...

They did mention numerous times review next Tuesday so thats review NDA.
