[360, PS3] Crysis 2

What, all these Crysis 2 PC gamer haters dont know what theyre talking about? I'm really shocked to discover that

Nebula already debunked the lesser/consolized FOV in C2 thing they keep spouting like drones at say, neogaf.

Anyways some scenes in new trailer look super hot. I too will be awed if some reasonable approximation of that is delivered on console.

Have you actually played Crysis? This isn't a vs thing, it's simply a case of understanding which game has the faster running speed and as the people who've actually played the game can attest, Crysis 1 definately feels a hell of a lot faster.

It's neither a good thing, nor a bad thing. It just is.

Maybe so, but it seems a lot of people just want to shit on "Bubu consolized crappy Crysis 2" without any basis.

Yeah I've played Crysis. Pretty average game imo. 2 looks a lot better (regardless of graphics) imo.

Agreed. But I see the same thing from you with regards to Crysis.

Crysis 2 looks like a fricken brilliant game. But Crysis was far, far from average. Whenever I see someone bashing on Crysis the only conclusions I can come to are you have a bias, you have no concept of what an FPS is, or you played it on a completely incapable system.

I've played dozens of great shooters for almost two decades and very, very few have the repeatable playabilty of Crysis.

Since when have I crapped on Crysis before this?

It seems to have a cult following as "You can kill each enemy 1 million different ways!". Sorry but I just played through it, you know, like a regular game, and found it quite pedestrian. Sorry dont really feel like creating my own fun or whatever you're supposed to do. I just want to play a game.

Then the bugginess of the last level still leaves nightmares in my mind and a sour taste in my mouth...completely broken, inexcusable.

I could also say the game had unwarranted difficulty spikes, combined with the save anywhere system, just leads to really unpleasent stop-start-start-overagain gameplay and even getting "stuck" in certain spots. Then combined the fact the game was a chore and I didn't want to replay any of it that I didn't absolutely have to, so desperately trying to avoid reloading last big checkpoint...

My GPU is a 4890. I played most of the game on very high if I recall.

Umm no, period (I referenced both).

It's more open gameplaystyle allowing player to approach situations in different ways with different methods. You either like it or dont but it doesn't make the game mediocre globally just becouse you didn't find it to your taste.

Exagerating a bit much now aint we?

64bit mode had leak which overtime could make it crash but 32bit mode was fine.

Atleast you have saved games to fall back onto to get out of the "stuck" places. Crysis 2 might be better but theres no need to make good features in Crysis look bad just to make the (possible) lack of them in Crysis 2 seem forgetable. Btw I've seen the save system in Crysis 2 and it's scales with shitty to good respawn system for player. From a limited radius respawn much alike Crysis auto save system to respawn where you died right back into combat. If your in a "stuck" situation it gets into a shitfest with you dying tons of times with screen all full of post-process effects as you get hit from every direction.

Gotta agree with him here, Neb. The last level of Crysis is so damn buggy it almost makes completing it impossible. Maybe 64 bit is better somehow but every bug that has been brought up about the last level I've had. Maybe it's just bad luck.

Well I played it several times and always finished it without problems except in 64bit mode where it leaks and saved games get corrupted.

I played the entire game on a GTS640. Didn't notice any bugs or any difficulty spikes to speak of. Including the last level, straight through first time :???: (if anything it was bit easy)

Obviously the gameplay is a matter of opinion but I can't help but think it's a little biased to claim its average for an FPS. How many FPS's have similarly dynamic gameplay? I could play through the first level (i.e the demo) a hundred times and not have the same exprerience twice. No other game offers the same level of variety that I know of.

Well I'm not saying everybody has them but it's been brought up enough by enough people so I know others have had these same issues - mostly it's player/exosuit falling through the floor that causes the frustration. The one that I had the last few times that bothered me the most was the door on the underside of the warship won't break open (nukes go right through). Usually if I restart enough times it'll finally work but it's quite a hassle really. Otherwise the game is pretty bug free.

Well I had huge problems on the last level, and then somehow got stuck too. I dont remember any of the details anymore. Just that I got stuck in some weird silent hell of being stuck behind...polygons and stuff at the end. There was a chopper/evac to get to and no way to get to it. Certain things that were supposed to be done werent, but somehow eventually the game progressed through a mass of bugs to the ending anyway after dozens of tries. IIRC my saves got borked or something too so I couldn't restart.

It was just an insane bugfest, I dont know what happened. I had to google/youtube to see how the last boss battle was supposed to go down, because it all went irrevocably wrong for me. There is a part where you shoot the underside of the boss ship and blow up stuff, I never completed that yet the game pushed me through to the next point anyway, so then it got doubly confused. It also seemed insanely insanely difficult so something was wrong there too.

Also I had the usual game would just lock up on the final level problems before that, which I googled and apparently found the DX10 version has issues on the last level. Which always seemed to me like yeah, kind of a big deal.

Hmm, is that why I got a blue screen and a total lock up of the system the two times I tried to finish it? Maybe I should try the 32 bit mode and complete it..(did just watch the end on youtube but I would like to achieve it myself..;))

I really liked Crysis, it does fell pretty unique. Loved the level after you get out of the ice dome.
Crysis 2 looks great as well, in spite of EA's PR which borders on sabotage..

Little interesting translated hands on Holland preview blurb from incrysis forums

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...TECHNICALLY SUPERIOR ...ON PC
I played Crysis 2 on the xbox360 and especially the water- and lightningeffects were portrayed beautifully. But also smoke and fire, the looks of the weapons, the special colors during shootouts, and the entire apocalyptic new york setting deserve praise.
Still, i wasn't fully blown away by its might, and that's because the PC version just vaporises all competition in this aspect. When you put all graphical bells and whistles to the max, you're simply in awe by how insanely beautiful it looks. I'm sure crysis 2 will prove to be the most beautiful game of 2011 by the end of the year. From what i've seen, no fps will top those visuals."

64bit leaks and when you save the saved games get corrupted. Reloading the saves would make things bug out, scripts not tirggering etc. In worst case running out of RAM and having game crash. Thats said final level was good until the end. Crytek just cant do "bosses", but maybe C2 will change that.

It sure was great and story was quite mature. About EA, they have been pretty catastrophal lately.

I'm not sure what platform to buy Crysis 2 on. I have a PS3 and a 360, I only go online with my 360 so PS3 version is ruled out. But there is also a pretty capable gaming rig in the house, it belongs to my brother though. I can easily play Crysis 2 demo on advanced at 50fps average. I can only play it when my bro is not at home though :p And he doesn't even know I downloaded the demo couse I've hidden it :p

hahaha I thought the MP was really good actually so it sounds like the 360 version would be good for you. On the other hand, if your bro has a good system, it might be worth going through the game together. It would be more fun (socially) and the game itself would likely be better too.

I'm having a blast with both versions. And the framerate is really, really smooth when I play on Hardcore (like, 40+fps). I'd like to buy the version with the best players though. Either I'm too good or everyone else sucks. I'm averaging a k/d of at least 10 per game couse I use the nanosuit really well. Wish I'd see more of those people.

I can't wait for this game.

There are two new reviews of Crysis 2. Official Xbox Magazine scored it with a 9.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/292287/news/crysis-2-review-9/10-in-oxm/

OXM's latest issue includes the first review of upcoming shooter Crysis 2, which the magazine has awarded 9/10.

According to the mag, it was the multiplayer that tipped the balance. It describes the online experience as "some of the most exciting, angry and satisfying action you'll ever have".

The sheer spectacle of the single player campaign also left OXM impressed, and the mag said the game's Nanosuit "is both massively empowering and intelligently balanced by the need to manage its energy levels".

You can read the full review in the new issue of OXM, which goes on sale on Thursday and is with subscribers now.

PlayStation Magazine has also scored the game, though not with a 9 but a 8, describing it as a visually outstanding game with a lot of fresh ideas.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/293334/news/crysis-2-review-8/10-in-official-playstation-mag/?

The latest Crysis 2 review score has arrived via Official PlayStation Magazine, which has given the Crytek FPS an 8/10.

OPM calls Crysis 2 "excellent - technically strong, visually outstanding and full of welcome fresh ideas."

Why no top marks then? OPM's main gripes are with the shooter's "bungled" opening section, and the mag says it takes maybe five hours of "persisting" through "a thorny, poorly signposted and indifferent shooter" until Crysis 2 really kicks off.

But when you do get past those first few hours the mag says you'll be enjoying the fact that Crysis 2 "looks and feels" fantastic.

"Developer Crytek has a deserved reputation for pushing gaming hardware to the brink and its debut work on PS3 is first-rate," it says.

"It doesn't just look good, it looks different. The Manhattan mix of crooked concrete spires and green urban spaces is refreshing after the relentless dark khaki backgrounds of Call of Duty and Medal of Honor."

They should have waited and done a single-player demo instead.
I wholeheartedly agree. A short demo teasing people would be more than enough. Multiplayer is okay but they could also add a map along with the brief SP demo to test MP and the differences between single player graphics and multiplayer ones. But well, it's done.

It doesn't matter anymore, I can't wait to play Crysis 2 soon... and any alien who tries to confront me is going to deal with my nanosuit and they WILL immediately receive a swift and very savage kick in the nuts. I have zero tolerance for that shit.

I have quite a few games to complete and play already, but this one seems special so I can't wait to get my hands on it.
