[360, PS3] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Why does the game stick to moving targets sometimes in MP? There's no option in the option list, yet at times, by gun will follow a moving target for a blip of a second. Anyone else notice this?

It's a bit of auto aim/aim tracking. CoD 4 and WaW both had that.

You can disable it thru options I guess...Turn off Aim Assist.

There's no such option in the multiplayer part of the game (like there is in SP mode). I find it quite distracting to be honest and am a bit surprised that such a game would force this on to its users...

^ Or maybe he didnt :)
There are guys with timings like that on XBL too.

Anyways Those things arent really as advantageous as it seems since the movement speed is exactly the same as you would have with a controller....you'll have an added benefit of accuracy though.

Amazing for a guy playing with a controller and he didnt even use the auto aim feature.

Not really particularly amazing. Targets are stationary and he has just memorized the location of the targets. If it was a first run i would be pretty impressed, but its obviously not.

Im sure anybody with decent aim could match that, if they had enough attempts at it.

Maybe il have a go at it when i get some time off during the holidays.

Thats a contradiction. Added accuracy is obviously advantageous ;)

Thought nothing from that video suggest that you would need it.

Yes, and it is annoying. Most console FPS have some adhesion.

1) Targets are not stationary only a few of them are.
2) Their location is not the same, ie. they can pop up from anywhere in their pre defined path hence it cannot be memorized, this also means they can pop behind civilian targets or can be just ahead of civilian target meaning if you hit it then you also hit the civilian.
3) Its not as easy as it looks.

Gotta say, I'm loving the campaign. When you get to the later levels, with all the crazy storm lighting, and the flames coming off the trees and burning embers flying through the air, the bullets flying everywhere, it really is incredibly atmospheric.

I enjoy the massive, and I do mean massive, war scenes. Very awesome! And the only spawning AI I have seen are trucked in, air dropped, or come out of a building (but not aimlessly spawning forever).

Are you sure about that? From the view attempts I did, I was pretty sure the targets pop up the same way every single time. Of course, they are not stationary, but if you do it over and over again, eventually, you will get the hang of it of where they pop up...?

BTW; whoever said Call of Duty games have good netcode should be shot. It's bloddy annoying that the game can't hold groups together. I got online last night at 8 p.m with a mate and after about 2 hours of playtime, we were only able to play about 3 games together and only with minor issues.

In between, we either lost each other out of the party with one of us joining the game while the other got a "host timed out error" or simply ending up in two different games. This went on and on with every 2nd or 3rd game giving problems. Then to make matters worse, we ended up playing with people with a seriously bad connection (most of us had a red signal). The result was a lag fest which had us absolutely slaughtered because there was no way we could aim or hit anything. Annoyingly, the opposing team seemed to have a good connection. A form of cheating maybe?

Anyway, considering the game doesn't "match make" accoarding to level, but connection speed and given that there are supposedly 300'000 people online, I find it very strange that the game can't give us any games with good connection speed on a regular basis. These problems btw have been present since I got the game btw...

Do both of you have OPEN NAT?

If not there is your problem regarding not being able to connect to the same game. MY GF's flat has closed nat and i cannot connect to my friends at all in COD4, (and playing Fifa online is very tricky, most of the time it just doesn't connect). At my house open nat and everything works fine :)

The people you played dont necessarily have a bad connection, but you could be matched with another continent (dunno if your US or EU, but i frequently get matched with east coast US, which usually results in 2 yellow or at best 3 greens if im very lucky).

Since your playing with a friend, your matched with other parties. PArties usually consists of friends etc from the same region, thus have good connections between themselves. If one of them is the host, and you get matched with a party from another region, your connection to all of them will suck ass.

I dont have much problems with lag, very rarely do i get into a room where i have less than 3 bars. (not that 3 bars is "lag free" but its decent enough). and if i do get 2 or 1 dot, i just go out and find another room.

Ostepop;

My friend and I have both got open-nat and pretty good connection speed (at least 2.5Mbps upstream). We both rarely have problems when playing alone. The problem in MW2 seems to happen when you are within a party. I've spoken to a couple of friends and we all have the same problem (and we don't always play together, but also in different combinations).

What annoys me, is that the game works fine when playing alone, but as soon as you have partying going on, there are problems happening on a regular basis. I understand that on the weekend, the servers might be overloaded, but during the week, it shouldn't be a problem.

As for lag:
We're from western Europe, so we get paired with people from our region often (France, Germany, UK I guess etc). What annoys me is that this game, obviously searches games accoarding to connection-speeds - so pitting us with or against people with relatively good connection speeds shouldn't be a problem. In MW2 there always seem to be over 300'000 users online at a given point - surely, with so many people online, it should be possible to at least get some of the pairing right. I had less problems in other FPS (guess which one) with 10 times less people online. :devilish:
