[360, PS3] Batman: Arkham Asylum

Anybody getting close to finishing? I think I'm almost there. I've now picked about 2/3 third the Riddler Challenges. Some levels I've finished all but the chattering teeth. I'm still lacking 2 major gadgets to be able to get the rest of them. I've also about upgraded everything on the Waynetech list. I might finish the main game this weekend. Yes, I'm slow. Always liked to take my time. No sense in hurrying. ;)

I just got to the next area after being tasked with finding the hidden
bat cave
(hopefully I haven't spoiled it). I've been spending a lot of time exploring. :) I have a really tough time maintaining combos though. I don't think I'll ever get the achievements for the ones greater than x10. :(

I really like the bosses so far.
The scarecrow part was really cool to me - a bit freaky too! Bane was a nice change too.

The mini cut-scene in the sewers when you try to go past a door and
Croc just appears... actually got me scared a little.
(/wishing for Dead Space 2)

Hehe, yeah I remember that. There is some spooking stuff going on. I must just a level or so ahead of you. About to get back on in a sec.

You can get the trophy for combos from the challenge rooms, I got the 20 one there and managed to work up to 40x (but no trophy). Also, I bought the critical strike upgrade, it helps a lot (and you can use it even in the challenge rooms).

Yea it helps a lot in big fights...but its annoying when instead of Y+B [Triangle+Circle] at the same time you press B first by mistake resulting in losing the crit. hit.

And playing in Hard mode is all about taking out the enemies with least amount of confrontations [this includes normal fights too & not just invisible predator mode], Explosive Gels & Grapple help a lot !

And you're not providing any feedback or reviews? Shame on you! :) If you do decide to contribute, be VERY CAREFUL about spoilers.

Well I though most are playing it anyways , so didnt bothered with an impression

Yes, I forgot to mention the fist fights. :)

They are cinematic and chereographed. Reminds me of MGS4's final fight with Liquid Ocelot, except that the style is different.

The fighting in this game is awesome. It's very simple, but the counters, takedowns, throws etc are all animated so well, and so fluid. They captured the feel of Batman in the combat perfectly. I could play those combat challenges for a long time, just because of how awesome it looks when you're beating down a group of thugs.

Yea, it's cool looking but man it's killing my hand! LOL I finally got a 20x combo in-game. That was freaking cool.

With regard to the Riddler Challenges, I've gotten to part of the game where I've found that some are inaccessbile due to some "blockages" LOL. I assume once I finish the game I'll be able to go back to get those? Does it let you free roam afterwards? There were quite a few first levels where challenges were not accessible because you didn't have the right gadgets. But you don't get all the gadgets till near the end. So I'm still able go back to them right? I figured I would, but starting to wonder now. Sorry, game is starting to make me stress. LOL

Don't think I've managed a 20 hit combo yet. Not sure if you can backtrack once you've finished the story or not. Once I got all the items I'd probably start backtracking right away. I just got the zip line, so I'm backtracking again.

Once you get the last gadget(ultra Batclaw) it's hard to backtrack because of the "blockages". Hopefully I can get back to the main island. BTW, wasn't how you got the zip line pretty freaking cool? :D

Batman's one of my favorite superheros, i got both a ps3 and a 360, so it's hard to make up my mind about which one to get. I really like the AA and SSAO the 360 version has, not to mention the fewer torn frames the 360 version offers, but i also like the joker dlc the ps3 version's got.

Well, the AA isn't exactly perfect and SSAO is hard to detect unless you're really looking. I'd like to know if there are fewer torn frames in the final game as well since I haven't played much of it on the 360 in bigger areas.

However, and this is slightly off topic (sorry), go with the controller you prefer and call it a day. The Joker content is incredibly oversold for the masses. They're based on the stock Batman missions (but he does have his own animations).

The game's incredible. I have over 10 hours at this point and I haven't been able to put it down! It makes me want to go and watch all the Batman Animated Series episodes again!

Agreed, it's really well done. Just got it today, planned to briefly try it and ended up glued to it for 3 hours. The combat is awesome, and the entire game has such a smooth fluid feel to it. Great stuff!

Right before "The Party" you'll be able to reach every area of the game without any "obstructions." After you beat it, you'll also be able to free roam. Just finished it and the Riddler's challenges last night. I haven't checked the actual time in game yet, but it feels likes it's close to 20+ hours, plus another 1 hour finishing off the Riddler's challenges (had all but 3 when I accidentally finished the game).
