Then why aren’t they buying the Steam Deck?
I've never seen a TV advert for Steam Deck, have you?

Are we really saying cable TV ads are the reason adult-focused portables aren’t gaining mass appeal?I've never seen a TV advert for Steam Deck, have you?

Every time I open Steam I see an ad for Steam deck. Are you really saying that a product with no mainline advertising should just sell?
Every time I open Steam I see an ad for Steam deck.
Plus, it’s not like there are a lot of Xbox hardware ads either.
I just find it hard to believe cable TV ads are what sells consoles in 2024 lolThere are a lot of adverts on TV, and not everyone has steam.
Imagine if Sony only advertised PS5 Pro on PSN.

I’ve never met anyone under the age of 50 that watches cable TV anymore. If you think that’s how modern game consoles are marketed I’m not sure what else to say lol.I'm finding it hard believe that you don't understand how marketing works.

to the necessity of broadcast TV adverts?
I feel that people who think everything will become cloud don't understand the economics of datacentres. Can someone spec a pc lite console for 1k to 1.5k sold by oem for a 2025 release? Something forward compatible aka I can put my cyberpunk copy in it or from an ecosystem steam/xbox and get path tracing?
Note before you folks laugh me out this room; I see this industry as ecosystem wars before cloud becomes the standard. The winners are those that can create/control content.

With a minimum target of 32GB of RAM would be interesting to see how this is pulled off.Rumours that AMD is going to start making APUs with their 3D v-cache. That could be very interesting for a next-gen console. I could see a console using the 3d v-cache and then cheaping out on the memory a little bit.
