Zone of the Enders 2: PAL Special Edition version!

What's wrong with the thread? Quit being such a grouch, you're locking up everything these days for little or no reason.

I read on the net there's a hidden game in ZoE2, some kinda remake of Nemesis/Gradius. Can't wait to get that unlocked... Apparantly you can do the classic Konami code while battling Vic Viper (whom is incidentally named like the ship from Nemesis... :)), but I haven't reached that part of the game yet.

Anyone got any good tricks for beating AI Viola in the cage match? She kicked my...umm...cockpit...last time I went up against her.

heh golden showers and cock-pits shouldn't be used esp when we are implying the sexual meanings of those words remember we have youngins that post and read here . Btw why do you assume that i'm the one locking all the threads. Some threads are locked while i sleep. Sleep is something i need to do .

  no no no

waht i meant was that sometimes the fighting can get quite crazy, and a little breather can help... thats all...
Do you work for nvidia now ? or are u just trying to get a job there

Oh fer fook's sake! That's the most REDICULOUS thing I ever heard! Cockpit is a perfectly legitimate word no matter what the implications (like, next you're gonna come down on me for speaking of bananas with a possibly sexual but more likely ironic connotation to the word?)

"Youngins"? You've GOT to be joking! We regularly talk about games where the player commits bloody murder and you're worried about the youngins because they might read the words "golden shower"? That's the STUPIDEST thing I ever heard. Ok, not the stupidest, but pretty darn stupid.

Now, do you have a strategy for me on how to beat Viola's...cockpit?

ALL I SAID!! is that when the action gets a little too much, a bit of a breather is always welcome.. u know, like when u... oh leave it...

anyway, Grall, i found Viola very easy, much easier than Vic Viper... all u need to do is use the Gauntlet (the one that does double damage when the enemy crashes into a wall) and she'll get stuck to the cage wall, at which point charge a burst attack and shoot... pretty easy

London:

Yeah, I thought maybe Gauntlet might work, but I haven't reached her again after I restarted the game (I missed the first Ex Mission File, the one inside the big ship), so I didn't have the opportunity to test it.

Thanks.

i must say, this game can get frustratingly hard, especially in the boss battles.... i mean the fight with the possessed Arb is pretty frustrating... u cant destroy it but u have to hit it in order to complete the mission..... even after getting the hang of it (its a rhythm thing), the bloody thing just destroys itself before u have time to delete the AI... and it's like, if it's not u dying it's the other one... damn...

but damn this game looks good... the VCannon is just the most beautiful weapon i've ever seen, especially when Jehuty's "taking it out"...

Having completed tha PAL version I may say something about the additions that make this edition a "special" one.

There are a couple of rooms more in some stages. In the ship, for example, there is this one big cube room with flying ships. This room wasn't in the jap version.

IIRC there is also another room in the descending to Lloyd confrontation level (that with moving columns)

There are some new cut scenes like the one showing the "gringing mech" sliding down (you can see them in the trailer, but not in the japanese version of the game)

I've also noticed some tweaking in some boss behaviour. Last confrontation has seen the addition of a new move to the boss repetoire.

That's all I can remember for now.

Oh, as for the comera taking 10 second to turn behind the Jehuty someone complained about. Dunno if someone already replyed to this but... you don't need to move the camera to get it behind the Jehuty. Just stand still for a second ed it will adjust automatically.

ZOE2 rocks BTW.

TTP,

any news on this "polygona demo" mentioned on the box?? what are the extra missions like?

Ryan,

i'm really dreading the fight with Anubis. the bosses in this game really are tough, i can't imagine how hard bloody Anubis is gonna be...

I played through the game on easy first, and didn't find any of the bosses that tough (except Anubis!). I just finished playing it through the second time on normal, and I guess cause I know all their patterns or whatnot, but they're still pushovers... again, except Anubis :) It doesn't help that that fight chugs on the framerate either :p (like really bad)

Some bosses are more annoying than others. Viola AI has been the most annoying so far, mainly because she friggin refused to die (or my stupid guy refused to kill her properly, aagh... :)).

Well, she's dead now. Gotta find a way to wax Anubis'...cockpit... Darn, he's such a cheater, lol!

*G*

Eh, I'm on Vic Viper Boss and find it very hard, I've tried to beat Leo and Viper for over an hour, but it always kills me with those ripples, missiles and others :( I'm playing on normal.

I know I should dodge them, and wait until I can beat him with melee combat, but he has so much energy.

If the later bosses are even harder, I don't think I'll ever finish this game.
Any hints?

This game is good, didn't like much the first Z.O.E, but this is quite a bit better. Love the graphics.
Did you know that you can zoom the polygon cutscenes with shoulder buttons and analog sticks, just like in MGS2.

Hm, I played the game on Easy, and while Vic could be a bit annoying, he wasn't really difficult. Dash away from the ripples, absorb the missiles with your shield (or dash them too). Get in up close and personal and let him taste your blade. If you got the chance, give his cockpit a lick with a ranged burst attack, but he's pretty fast so that could be difficult.

Not sure there's much more to it, you don't have any sub-weapons yet that can help out to my knowledge. You got Geyser, you could try that I guess, but as far as I remember it just didn't stun him long enough to be very effective (he is a boss after all). Just preservere.

Viola's much more a beezotch than Vic last time you meet her, but only because you must not destroy "her" body. There's a technique to it, heh heh.

*G*

Vic Viper..

When he transforms and flies around, you can either just block all his missiles or go all Newtype and evade (lighting reflexes pending ofcourse). I beat him fairly easily by doing the homing laser from afar while he flies around, then blocking his melee attack and doing my own after.

Hint: for Viola, just grab a hunk of metal off the pilars and guard when she does her ramming attack, then dash after her and slice her up.

Hint #2: for AI-Delete-Viola, watch her arm when she goes to do a melee attack, there's a split second where she raises it. Get the timing right, and attack just as she does, and she'll be stunned (thus letting you grab and delete her).

Hint #3: Mars Catapult Anubis, have some liquor or mind soothing drugs handy ;)

Mars Catapult? You mean, like inside the long tunnel? He's pretty easy there.

Dash around and keep your distance until he does a burst attack (blocking his red homing lasers whenever he shoots them), then dodge it as it approaches. When it is behind you, teleport up to Anubis and whack him with your sharp stick. A dash+slash combo works even better if you can make it work, but it's not neccessary. Just keep doing that until he's beaten.

Inside aumaan, don't teport when he bursts (it will hit you), just dash like mad until it fizzles, THEN teleport. Slash him (burst first then slash if possible; it's easier if you just slash regular until you see he is blocking with his little hexagonal bricks, then burst+slash him and he will take a big chunk of damage.

Every once in a moon you can hurt him with a homing laser or ranged burst attack, but don't expect to win using this tactic, lol. Do do a homing laser attack on him whenever he tries to throw a burst attack on you.

Seems he can recharge health inside the energy beam thingy in the middle of the room. If he starts hanging around inside there be on him like white on rice until he flees.

And PLEASE, can someone explain that ending to me? It's just utterly incomprehensible... What's that Anubis-like thing Jehuty hugs at the end? I mean the one with the backwards-looking legs? Weird...!
