Xbox 360 pre-MTV unveiling video

they said they will be showing perfect dark after the break but those screens don't look good, I like the faceplates the whole front panel is replacable

I liked how they pimped the xbox original and i liked them showing the diffrent designs .

They talked about the market place where you could buy like a custom tshirt for a game character. Now i do't know if they cost money

They talked about downloading new content and showed the menus

They also talked about perfect dark death match at the end of the show !

well perfect dark will handle 50 players online I guess that makes up for the graphics, the show is lame sofar though

If those PDZ screens are from the latest work in progress...I think i'm going to be sick

This is not making next gen lookin good if true

Does the PDZ shown on MTV look like those screenshots? (I do not have MTV).

The PDZ screens on MTV looked HORRIBLE! What the hell? They didn't even show any real gameplay footage other than PDZ. I also have a new hatred for The Killers...ugh....annoying

looks alot better in action I say its on level with halflife 2 maybe, this must be the game that they ported that was going to be on xbox. the show is already over only game they shown play in realtime was PDZ

Wow perfect dark looks really good , all the rest isn't that great .

But perfect dark looks close to half life 2 and has 50 player multiplay . Not bad at all for a launch title .

As for the other games they don't look that great and i'm sure most were cgi but they still have another what 5 months before launch or so and they are after all launch titles

Remember what launch ps2 titles were like ? Then look at god of war . The same diffrence will happen in this generation .

So the developers say PDZ has 5k poly characters, 100k-300k polys per screen, and up to 50 players on screen in multiplayer.

That's like 18 million polys per second. What little they showed of the gameplay didn't look like 18 mill poly/s to me. :?

Next time MS, go back to E3. This MTV launch sucked.

Did anyone else feel most of the footage shown was jerky and below 30fps?

18million polys/s is terrible for a box that should do hundreds of millions.

Gawd, this was a terrible way to demo the upcoming console.

When compared to Battlefield 2 which will also support 50+ players...first shots of PDZ are not impresive. First time I saw BF2 it made my jaw drop and that's like a year ago. I guess there's some time to improve but these guys would have to rush like crazy to match what DICE have been doing.

Is this what they showed on MTV?

Btw, BF2 allows 64 players and looks a ton better still than this. Even HL2 looks better still. I am not sure how motion can compensate for bad textures and models (look at the guy in the above pic on the right). I will wait to see it in motion to draw any more conclusions but this really did not impress me at all. Conkers looks better IMO, and that is an Xbox title.

Eight games were shown -- seven viewable, one playable. Perfect Dark Zero was the only playable title, and it was underwhelming, looking early, dark, and chugging at under 20 FPS. This was clearly an odd strategy on MS's part. Why show Perfect Dark Zero to celebrities show don't even know who Rare or Joanna Dark are? Plus, Rare hates showing early games. Why would they show this before it was ready? We're not sure. The other games included Ubisoft's Ghost Recon 3, THQ and Volition's Saint's Row, a GTA-style action game, Microsoft's and Epic's Gears of War and Rare's Kameo, Sega's Full Auto, and Activision's Quake IV and Call of Duty 2.

I noticed that when asked how the graphics were for PDZ, they instantly skipped around (To create the perception that people who were watching the program dont care about the technicalities. When they were probably covering up a lot of technical details that explain why PDZ looks the way it does.). Ah well, thats my take on that part. Overall, I was expecting a little more. I didnt know it was a half hour only.

To me, the grass textures on the ground in PDZ looked blurry and almost worse than Halo1. Also, the framerate was terrible. 5000 polys per character? LAME.

This is a really stupid strategy on MS's fault. They should have had a more controlled/prerendered demo at E3, or just wasted till near November.

I got a feeling that Sony and Nintendo are going to destroy MS's demos at E3, even if they are prerendered or canned tech-demos.

(Remember PS2's "final fantasy 8 ballroom dance"?)

I've only seen the 1UP screenshots but it's really a step down on HL2 and Halo 2 IMO although I haven't seen it in motion some people may have and could comment. I'm just curious as to how much time and work would be required to make this game truly next gen looking. Maybe Rare has the physics and AI on lock and are moving on the art as Epic is doing something similar with UT2k7. It could simply be fill in the blanks, very large blanks, from now until the product goes Gold or whatever :?: Have to keep all options open because Rare do make some great looking games, usually.
