Xbox 360 pre-MTV unveiling video

Run down of the video for those who do not have broadband (mostly in order, but I did move a few comments around to group them):

Confirms 3 symmertrical CPU cores, 6 HW threads. Water cooled CPU Heat Sink. Dual exhaust on the case. It has a 4 layer MB. 512MB of RAM. 48 ALUs on the Graphics chip. 1 Trillion Floating Point Ops/s is mentioned. Every game has HD, 5.1 Surround Sound. The wireless controllers are RF (I deduce this from the wireless board in the case for the controllers). HD goes on top. The pics online are for real. The double concave design is ment to refer to an inhale as in "wow"? Case can be verticle or Horizontal.

The ring around the power button is the ring of light and lets you know when you have messages (like in a movie it will let you know). It is the User Interface button on the contrller. Guide to games, messages, DL new games and demos, Music, photo slide shows, trailers for new games and movies. You can get video messages, even while watching movies.

It connects to your Windows PC, MP3 players, Digital Cameras, etc... You can see your friends while talking to them. EVERY game is Xbox Live aware. You get Gamer cards, market place, custom match making, etc... They are promising more input into games, like you can paint your own skateboard or make your own leagues with friends. You have more control now with Xbox live.

I loathe to watch MTV for this, so I'm really hoping this isn't some typical overproduced music show (like the Video Game Awards) filled full of porn stars, rappers, rockers, and other beautiful and hip people trying to give their opinion, all of whom have NOTHING to do with the video game industry and wouldn't know a pixel from a vertex if they got bit in the ass by them.

You'll know the type of show I'm talking about, if 80% of the airtime consists of band music, dancing, lights, and interviews with actors and rappers, and no tech specs are given, and very little real footage is shown.

Should I hold my expectations higher, that this show will be more like an E3/TGS/CES/Comdex/Computex demo and presentation, or, will be it be one big music video?

Oh, and I don't want to here what the Xbox 360 is "supposed to be, what they want it to be", I want to see it demoed. I don't want to see reused Xbox1.0 footage either (e.g. Halo2)

Oh, and the controller looks a slight bit smaller than the Xbox controller. That is good, for me at least, because the Xbox controller was way too big for my small hands. Everything looks nice.

Oh, I accidently deleted the part about the removable face plates. Those are mentioned too. I swear, Xbox 360 is the worse kept secret EVER in the gaming industry.

I don't think you'd put a show on MTV and hire The Killers to do an E3/TGS/CES/Comdex/Computex [style] demo and presentation ...

One new bit of info (new to me anyway) confirmed here is that all XBox 360's come with at least a 20GB HDD.

Well, the show's a bit on the tacky side a few minutes in. Hopefully these idiots will shut up soon and they'll show some tech specs and in game video.

Haha... was that "bit" pun intended?

Unfortunately that's exactly what I was expecting.. because that's the audience where the money is. Unfortunately MS won't make money out of the B3D audience... it'll get rich out of the mainstream user, who likes bands, lights, actors, dancing, etc.

Oh well..

the mtv show is on now so far it's pretty lame some chick walks down and turns the system on and then a band starts playing :) , from the looks of it it's about the size of the last xbox

a water cooled console a least it will be quiet

Keep us posted it airs at 1am here and I wake up at 5am :?

What surprised me is they interrupted the infomercial for a commercial break. Then they showed two different commercials twice each during the first break. I guess the target audience has ADD so bad they need to repeat things over and over.

But now at least they're showing a few clips and designer interviews.
