Will MGS4 get 1 million day one sales?

Are you getting MGS4?

If the game has a WW release I see no reason why they can't get 1 million day one. PS3 owners have to be waiting of something since they don't seem to be buying the current software. I figure MGS,FF and GT are the games they are waiting for. Maybe MGS will be the game to stimulate all PS3 game sales. I fully expect MGS to be number 1 selling game in NA the month it comes out unless it goes against GTA. If stuff like dead rising and saints row can sell almost 500k in a month in NA MSG should be able to double that and with most sales coming in the first day I can easily see them getting 400k-500k day one in NA. If MSG does not sell the PS3 is finished IMO. If that game can not sell what the hell can? I can not see any exclusives that are not money hatted on the PS3 if MGS tanks.

I wish we could get a break down of what PS3 owners do with the system. Are they using it for blu ray and other media functions like streaming. Are they using it for Linux and stuff like surfing the web and other stuff linux based? Sure the 360 can do some of that but the costs(169 for hd-dvd addon, 6 dollar movie rentals) or limited applications(not enough codec support for real good streaming) I think keep most people from using the 360 as anything as a game machine.

Also for some unknown reason PS3 games just don't have the ground swelling of hype as 360 games. It seems every month there is a ton of hype for a few 360 titles that sell very very well. I am sure a lot of it has to do with live and wanting to play the same games as your friends. So if your friends have game X you will be more likely to buy game X. There must be some other factors as well. HS, RC and now it looks like UC have failed to get the ground swell of support needed for good sales numbers.

I would love to make a topic on PS3 game sales but I fear it would not go very well.

Perhaps you can look at these matters from a different perspective.

How can you compare CoD3 to Cod4? One was pretty much an outsourced expansion pack and still using the way overdone WW2 setting, whole CoD 4 is the proper all new sequel by Infinity Ward set in modern day with all new weapons and a vastly improved multiplayer mode. Look at 360 CoD4 numbers:

week 1) 507,659
week 2) 234,362
week 3) 130,065

More than twice the PS3 sales, but surprisingly not proportional to the install base of the two systems, which is currenltly 8.86 to 2.61 million units.

360 having better software sales than the PS3 is understandable. if you look at the sales for big name multiplatform titles like AC or COD4, PS3's sales are roughly half of the 360's. now compare the size of their respective user bases -- 6.36 vs 13.72. Wii has a larger WW user base, but imo, 360 has a better software lineup. i think if the PS3's user base was as large as the 360's, it would sell just as much software, as both are targeted more towards hardcore gamers and they buy more software than casual gamers.

Line up console sales at any one point and the 360 has sold more software. The 360 has more 1million+ sellers even in the face of better intra-console competition and more total software sales at any one point in time of console sales.

What did you try to show by them for a $400 console and a $600 console?
I was just trying to illustrate that CoD3 is perhaps not the best title to use in this kind of comparison.
