What are you playing now? [2018-2021]

It’s just so over the top amazing. And technically? Wow.
I had some issues with its pacing and level design (the side mission structure is kind of annoying in its attempt at replay/recycling levels/padding), but hopefully the story is appealing enough for you to get through it to the end. I thought it was refreshing for a number of reasons cathartic, but I'm also quite surprised at how they've managed to turn Wolfenstein into a brooding character arc with a somewhat interesting storyline, and I wonder what they're getting at by continuing with the two timelines.

I just didn't think it was particularly well designed. Maybe the developers wanted to make a comment on something, but just like with the new order (even worse imo), the fact that the main character is about as resilient as a paper mache doll kinda clashes with the insane amount of hit-scan damage the enemies dish out. Here's a bunch of massive-ass guns ; now go and hide in a corner unless you wanna get torn to shreds in milliseconds. Not a big fan of the level design either. Thanks to the engine it certainly has the feel of Doom. It's just nowhere near as well crafted.

Some of the levels were a bit weird, I must say. But the humour, the look of the game, and that smooth Doom feel are incredible. The story is completely bonkers but quite funny when you switch your brain off, which I guess is a requirement here.

I also can't believe some of the graphics that this game is pushing out at such a high framerate. Sure, the levels all tend to be very self-contained, but still it's all very impressive to see. That water is probably the best looking I've seen, and it's all at 60fps!

Id Tech 6 is truly the bee's knees. There's no game this year I'm anticipating as much as Doom Eternal, and dat engine is definitely a big reason for that. Though to be fair, there was almost nothing coming out this year that truly excited me besides RE2 Remake and Sekiro (which I didn't like that much) and there's really not much on the horizon either besides that new Platinum game for the Switch.

Wonder how this new version handles saving. in the original PS2 game dying often meant huge set backs due to the old school save system.

Thirteen hours in and I've only died three times and each time I never lost more than a few minutes. The game autosaves liberally, certainly every time you cross a zone in any environment and, I think, when you kill/loot anything significant.

I've never been remotely interested in the FF universe but this game is really working for me. I will look at some of the other games afterwards although I'm not huge on games with lots of grind and turn-based combat.

That's good. I remember getting killed on the airship fairly early on and then having to redo the entire thing from scratch because of the one manual save point right at the beginning. The dungeons where you got some of the summons worked in a similar fashion iirc.

The minimum spec for Rage 2 is a gfx card with 3gb vram :(
That's why I got 8GB. :D (I have waited YEARS to be a smart-arse like that!!! ;) )

The 8GB 580 has surprised me, it is a lot more powerful than I was expecting and I'm very happy with it for $145us.

Rage 2 sucked btw, you didn't miss nothing. If you've already forgotten Rage, you'll forget Rage 2 just as quickly.

Sorry, I thought the price drops were global. I didn't mean to tease/taunt or brag. :(

I got mine on open box, 580s still go for about $170 here.

I watched The Last of Ass on pornhub some time ago. Wasn’t great if I’m honest.

The rim lighting was impressive, though.

Wh... What?!

I didn't know that movie! :confused::LOL:

EDIT: after a quick, curious search, I haven't found it. Are you sure that is the exact wording? I don't want to ASSume things...

I'm trying Spiderman on ps4pro, but damn I'm bored and not interested at all. It's like the gameplay does nothing for me, the story telling either...
I get it on a sale so I'm not very pissed of, but still...

I had hard time get into it as well. First 10 or so hours I was pretty much just waiting to put the controller down, but after that I've start to like it. I'm not feeling the controls 100% but they are alright, most of the bonus content is a bore fest, but the main story is pretty good and the gameplay in general is good enough. The city looks quite spectacular up high. Felt like a lot of geometry out there :)

Not sure how much I have left, but I'm definitely past the 50% point. After I'm done with this I'll finally start Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition.
