Seriously, you knew it was going to look awful, right ?

I knew it wouldn't look good, but I expected better than this.

These games haven't aged well at all, as opposed to say Chrono Cross which I still consider quite beautiful. I would rather they stuck with prerendered backdrops given the environments are totally static anyway.

Today my hunt for the illusive took me to a local charity shop, where i unearthed the following slices :

Crashday
Juiced
Mcrae Rally 2
Fifa 07

all for £12

*Note to the Gaming Goodness
Hiding at the back of the shop next to the paperbacks will not save you from a life on the Sacred Terabyte

How exactly does this work? I'm interested in playing MGS: Snake Eater, one of two MGS games I never got to play due to the fact my PS2 broke before it came out.

To legally make it work you need a BIOS from a PS2 you own. Doing a BIOS dump can be difficult but there's a guide here.

Aside from that it's not a difficult thing to set up. There are plenty of instructions on the PCSX2 site.

Note that you need a decent CPU to make it worthwhile. My 3.2GHz Conroe works well but I still get some seemingly random slowdowns. And I don't mean frame skipping, I mean the whole emulator goes into slow motion. Can be funny if it happens in cutscenes.

I tried PCS2X multiple times (over several years), it always crashes after a few seconds or just stops even when just executing the Bios. I get the feeling it doesn't like AMD CPUs.

Well, turned off PhysX in Sacred 2 and the game's performance dramatically improved on my GTX 285 and it's now far more stable. Played for several hours last night without a single crash.

Just pissing around with HL2, EP1 and EP2 with FF CM 10 installed....

Got bored though, HL never really appealed or stood out to me...

Also playing COD : WAW and I'm installing the first Call Of Juarez as I type this

I ordered Call of Juarez, Mirror's Edge and Far Cry 2 (for eye candy purposes) from Amazon yesterday for a total of 52 dollars brand new shipped. I look forward to beating those 3 games.

Far Cry 2....Ewwww

It is worth a playthrough just becouse of graphics* and amazing athmosphere. The moving vegetation, sound and sunsets makes it a pleasure. The screenshots in the screenshot thread will please you.

I am going to be hitting you up for some tweaked configs of course when the games come in. in the meantime I think I am going to install Crysis since I just beat Assassin's Creed today and try it out on my upgraded video cards and see whats what. I will of course be trying out your configs Nebby :)

Beating the snot out of Seth (SF4). It's a great game but damn, Seth is annoying! His stage also looks like that old intel Pentium ad with the lab guys in their coloured suits. He's cheap and stereotypical (assimilate the best powers from other fighters) so it's very easy to lose a match but his A.I. has a flaw that makes it incredibly easy to beat so you either lose catastrophically or you perfect his face which removes any sense of accomplishment.

Other than that, the game is awesome, I really like almost all characters with only Rose (she works in Alpha but doesn't fit in the more serious main SF universe), Rufus (too many comic-relief characters already and his moves look exceedingly silly) and Seth standing out.

Gouken is my new favourite character after Ryu/Guile because of his familiar yet novel move set.

Other games I'm playing are Lego Batman (almost done with the story) and reaching 100% completion on Lego Star Wars II (I completed the first one this weekend). Me and my girlfriend are hopelessly addicted on these Lego games. :p

I just started playing the new wolfenstein game. It is fun, frenetic and seems to be decent enough. I got the call of juarez game as well at the same time in the 48 madness sale. I got some other random crap too Maelstrom I think it is.

I'm not playing anything yet, as my new PC will not be operational until next week, but I've been buying some games in the meantime. Some really great bargains out there and in general the pricing level is awesome! I already bought.

-Mass Effect (£13.90)
-Red Faction: Guerrilla (£24.39) preorder
-Fallout 3 (15.9£)
-Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood (24.36£)
-The Witcher Enhanced Edition (10.90£)

-Dead Space (18.8€)
-BioShock / The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Double Pack (19.49€)
