Model 2 Arcade VF2

ok here comes a negative comment....

it would be very very sad if PS2 VF2 does not get Model2-exact texture mapping. the Martin Marietta Model 2 board is about 11 years old (completed sometime in 1993)...the first Model 2 game, Daytona USA, came out in early 1994, and VF2 came out in late 1994.

ok here comes a positive comment

whoa its so totally kewl that were getting an AM2 developed VF2 on PS2. look, there's the 3D bridge that was axed from the Saturn conversion, like all the other 3D backgrounds. 8)

Wonderful game... 10 years ago...........

Can't we just have ONE screen... Or maybe 5 seconds footage of VF5!?! Pretty pleeeeease...... ;)

Hey Sega, how's the Sega-building today? Lots of Sega-fellow-employees? Busy day there at Sega-HQ? Thank god it's friday huh, wouldn't want all this Sega-work to get to ur head...

If we don't get at least a perfect conversion, that will be developers only fault.

I hope that this obvious texture aliasing on a 240x180 image is due to the downsampling of the picture...

BTW I really hope(dream?) that AM2 use "supersampling" for the rendering of the game (the GS Vram is not going to be busy trying to deal with tons of high rez textures...) à la BGDA (a 1280x486 (or was it 243?) back buffer , and a 648x243 front buffer)!
I also wished they used AA on the Virtua Racing port (they could used Edge AA), but they didn't, so.

Since arcade boards doesn't follow the same fast production schedule for launch that consoles do, it'd be of interest to know when SEGA's new board could be manufactured compared to the later consoles coming out. Having to wait on the development of a major project like the next Virtua Fighter before the technology can become available will obviously hold its introduction back comparatively like how Virtua Fighter 4 held up Naomi 2 availability relative to ultra-rushed console launch software.

He must be living a... 'Virtua Life!'

As much as the Sega Ages collections are neat, I'd still like to see a lot more old collections featuring just plain MORE games. They don't look substantially redone, so it sorta pales in comparison to the likes of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. (And I'm pretty sure we'll get an "X Collection" of 1-6 and other games a little down the line. ;) ) Now 8-10 games all in a convenient package...! That's the way you do it! :D

Getting 2-4 very old games in a new collection--even if it only starts at $30--never really appeals to me; it's costs too much for not enough convenience. (And it's pretty damn insulting when we're talking about, like, the early Atari games--"arcade" or not. Though we'd get as many as six! Ooooh!)

Maybe it's just me, but it just seems silly to not jam-pack these collections with a lot of random games (even if they weren't really "popular")--we're not precisely dealing with things that will make a stitch of money otherwise anyway.

Even the upcoming Street Fighter collection is disappointing after I checked on it and discovered the Alpha games would play no part like I'd assumed. (5 flavors of Street Fighter II's? OH BOY! )

Perhaps there is hope for the future, though... I can't imagine many of them are pulling in mighty sales, but perhaps of quality collections sell better, they'll figure it's more profitable to please the consumer up front with impressive displays than trawl the line out and hope to pull in a few over time...

Here's hoping an extremely large Castlevania collection is in the works. :D

the new Street Fighter 2 collection on PS2 (and Xbox right?) does not appeal to me at all because its not 5 seperate SF2 games, its 1 SF2 game, SSF2T with selectable abilities from the 5 SF2 games. therefore if you dont like the look of SSF2/SSF2T backgrounds, you are out of luck. i'm sticking with my Saturn Capcom Generation 5, my PS1 Street Fighter Collection 2 and my Dreamcast SSF2X/T

Exactly. The Alphas needed to make an appearance for it to be useful. Heck, they might as well have thrown in the EX'es as well for all the good they've done otherwise. ;)

They can save the Versus games for later.

Ahh Sega ages worth getting.

On other note.

Nah in term of competitive gameplay, SF2 series are better then Alpha series. Single player, maybe Alpha is a more interesting game.

AFAIK, the US version of the collection will contained SF3:3rd Strike as well.

SF3:3rd Strike is a very under rated game IMO, it was overshadowed by the Alpha and the Versus series. But Capcom only has itself to blame for that. But still I'll give credit where its due, SF3:3rd Strike is the best Street Fighter game to date and the best of any 2D Fighter. Bring on Street Fighter 4. (Well its unlikely, since they're doing some Capcom megamix game at the moment  )

I disagree, VF4 came close to VF2 but still hasn't quite nailed the problems when they started meddling with the gameplay around VF3. VF2 still holds many a fond memory for me, and I challenge anyone to a game :D

Well, you'll have to decide if you want a perfect port (which would include the texture aliasing, as every Model 2 game I've seen has it, and it's very obvious) or an enhanced port :p

The Street Fighter compilations have never made any sense whatsoever. SF3 TS, SFA3 Upper, SFEX 3, and SSF2T+SF2T (the best of the four series) would be a logical bundle but, oh well...

Darkstalkers Chronicles would be a good pack in as well, but good luck in seeing that ever released here. Which works for me as I have a $150 Japanese Dreamcast copy of the game which I might just sell one day. :devilish:

Well the more the better :D, but really you get a quite a new anniversary game HSF2, and the one that hasn't been ported much SF3TS (a better port then Dreamcast version) in a compilation.

On side note, I've just seen this SF3TS video from EVO2k4, remind me the good old day of SF3TS. Its nice to see some skill player is still around. Fighting game today, have lost alot of the timing aspect and percision, it becomes quite boring.

:devilish: "AT LEAST" :devilish:

;)

BTW, you know that all games are AA in our memories... A.K.A rose tinted glasses effect!

A limited booklet will be include with the game, it's called VIRTUA JUNKIES' ARCHIVES.

If the port is good (/me want AA, AA, AA, AA), the game might become a must have.
