Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Digital Foundry tested the framerate of the trailer.

It has just a single scene with drop to 59. :D Can anyone remember, was that scene realtime on FMV on PS3?

Fmv, it was before Drake started walking towards the desert. Even more proof that they are real-time now.

From memory, I can't recall the cutscenes being that far out of reach of current realtime technology. It could be done, in theory. But we'll know soon enough, as one would hope that in case they are real time, weapons equipped etc would look the same from in-game to cutscenes.

why not just tweet Bluepoint and ask, I still highly doubt that they are real time.

Although we are arm-chair-analysts and we are mostly assuming based on observations.

Bluepoint Games are working closely with Naughty Dog (under direction) edit re-researched Bluepoint Games...Naughty Dog did the remaster of the Last of Us.

Main points to observe with "T.L.o.U. remake" was the resolution and frame rate updates...I believe sound was a factor too...

Uncharted 1 was an early PS3 game and it had a bit of screen tearing iirc...the big jump was Uncharted 2 and later Uncharted 3.

Sound wise it would make sense if they went for a full 7.1 surround sound standard along with the resolution and frame rate upgrade.

If they are upgrading the textures as well as working closely with Naughty Dog's current engine then OMG!!

Real time in engine cut-scenes at full 1080p 60fps would not only be fully feasible and consistent but as mentioned before, it would save a ton of space from storing video on a Blu Ray disc...where sound and language selection of a game that's going to different regions (think Killzone 3 language selection which could be changed anytime)

They are also speaking of single player skins...hope this is the case because it will make replays more enjoyable if say they had some funny outfit you could use all the way.

I'm hoping...specially after careful analysis of the direct feed video that they are going all out.

Eventually I'm hoping Sony starts considering a God of War Ascencion Remake that is all in game engine 1080p 60fps and that they use that to also upgrade-remake God of War 1, 2, the PSP games using the GoWA engine and textures or better.

Eventually they could do a Heavenly Sword remake as well which could help in possible franchise ressurection.

And Guerrilla Games could after their new project which looks amazing, also use their current tech to "upgrade-remake" Killzone 1, Killzone Liberation as a FPS, Killzone 2, Killzone 3 and Killzone PS-Vita as a collection of single player campaigns all in game engine 1080p 60fps and standard 7.1 surround sound, upgraded physics/textures etc all in a single Blu Ray disc or two (note that Killzone 3 used a lot of video) that would leave sound and language...

Oh and a Heavy Rain, Farenheight and Beyond 2 Souls remake would be great as well...help those games get played in full 1080p 60fps by a new standard audience.

Bring it on!!

So am getting this over Until Dawn because three Uncharted s are better than one Until Dawn , however good it might be. But I will be seriously missing the split screen and online co-op . That defined U2 and 3 for me. Spent so much time playing that, in fact never replayed the campaign because of that.
Let's hope All goes well and I don't feel disappointed and enjoy it all.

I'm probably picking up Until Dawn for the weekend then I'll post loads about it until you cave in. Becuase you always cave in! I'll be picking up the Uncharted Collection as well as long as the conversion is decent, which is seems highly likely. I don't play online so the loss of multiplayer isn't a problem.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday, either IGN Beyond or VideoGamer.com, and they mentioned the Collection had two new difficulty modes. At the easy end is 'Explorer' which is for those who struggle even on easy and really just want to play through the story, and at the hard end is 'Brutal' whcih is harder than Crushing.

Bring it!

I will buy that cheap later, I am in a mood for gameplay righjt now. Pre oredered the UC collection already.....and realised after purchasing that it is 44 days away  ! ! ! I had thought it was releasing next month  ! I should have paid more attention ! WTF man, now I am just waiting for MGS to drop or I will go crazy soon !

looks like SSAO is missing or dialed back significantly or using a more accurate version + indirect shadow like LOU. All the games that came with SSAO around the release of U2 was overly done.

Yeah i think it isn't using SSAO anymore, if you see the hotel scene from the remaster it's pretty evident in the lettering of the Hotel.

I won't use that scene for reference because Bluepoint specifically mentioned some tech are not in the game yet including motion blur when they released the Hotel scene earlier. And the Nepal scene that just came out have motion blur up and running. We just need some higher quality feed to analyze, or even better yet the demo which is suppose to come out this summer.

But it still appears like it had some sort of occlusion shadow, if it didn't have any it would be pretty evident, i think they are definitely using something like TLOU (or maybe exactly that since it's the same engine).
Edit: This is from Uncharted 3, it looks different

yes, we don't know if the cut scenes are real time yet, so the can mean anything. Another gameplay scene we got from gaf, can clearly see the contact shadows in almost every corner and for comparison, the SSAO for the gas canister shows some contact shadows at the back of the canister on PS4 instead or the front on PS3, plants shows strong AO in PS3 shots but not PS4. Does looks like they could be using a much more accurate version from the new engine now. I just hope they can ass motion blur and AO for Uncharted 1 and the indirect shadows from LOU in all 3 games now.

This uncharted collection looks more than just a remaster. I wonder how much of the work were actually done by Bluepoint or are they all ND original HQ assets that need to be "optimized" to get it to run smooth on PS3. Because LOU remaster clearly has some upgraded geometry from the original release. Some texture looks more than just a 4 x texture res bump.

That is one benefit of having pre-rendered cutscenes, if they used higher quality assets on Ps3 cutscenes it's easier to just use these instead of recreating new ones. The difference in geometry is very interesting though, i don't think TLOU:R had that to a similar degree. You can see differences in geometry in almost every scene:

It's very impressive that we can see improvements on geometry that is out of focus and probably gets 1-2 seconds of screen time in the entire game. Bluepoint is delivering.

I am glad I pre ordered this. Can't wait for the SHip, Canyon, Desert and Ubar and The Train,Nepal,and...and...and... ....and play them again ! Mostly forgotten the nitty-gritties of each encounter so all will feel mostly fresh again :D ! Well, UC3 will feel most fresh as I didn't replay it due to the split screen coop in the game. I played UC1 three times and UC2 two and half times, so remember them quite well.
