The Last Guardian (Trico, Ico 3, Shadow of the Colossus sequel, etc.) [PS4]

It has being confirmed by Yoshida that the old PS3 trailer was not running on a real PS3 but was "specced up" because the PS3 couldn't run the thing at a decent framerate. It was definitely the reason for the historical delay and it doesn't surprise me considering Shadow of the colossus disastrous performance on PS2 (capped @ 20fps or 15fps during colossus battles). Yosp:

There were lots of technical issues. The game was not performing at speed. The video we showed, the trailer on PS3, was specced up. The game was running at a much lower frame rate. Some features were still missing.

So maybe from 720p @~15fps on PS3 ("much lower frame rate") we'll get 1080p @30fps on PS4, not bad, and they still have time to improve some middle res textures and improve the geometry.

I'm not terribly surprised. The original trailer feels like it has variable quality, and although the shading and local level geometry density is nothing special, the scene complexity and animation is extremely ambitious for seventh-gen. I mean, just look at that "skybox"; it doesn't look like the ultra-low-quality models or the alpha cutouts that PS360 games generally use, it's all geometry and it's all pretty good. And the feather motion and the destruction is complex.

Btw, this was what I meant... Just look at those flat ugly things! What is this, 1995?

I don't mind the washed out look at all. Focus is on that bird-cat-rat thing and the puzzles. It's going to be difficult to spot the solutions in a busy environment. I am guessing we have building/architecture-scale puzzles in this game.

If they go Uncharted or Second Son style details, it's going to be nauseating for me. Too much going on.

That'd be due to not writing to the hardware then.

Patsu! Were you in hibernation until TLG news? ;)

"If everyone stopped asking about it, probably we would have [cancelled it]," Yoshida told Edge magazine.

As expected, our relentless rumor mongering campaign was a success, and was instrumental in keeping this game alive. We are the annoying fans who refused to ever shut up about TLG. We are everywhere. Our powers grow stronger by the day. Nobody can stop us now. We control the world.

To all sleeper agents with placeholder accounts on B3D, phase two have been initiated: Now let's bring back [redacted]. :devilish:

Parappa The Rapper, Jumping Flash, and Motor Toon Grand Prix (yes, forget about GT7, bring us MTGP3). Jumping Flash will be good for VR....

Anyway, I don't mind the art style, but they really needs to reduce the aliasing... and probably reduce the clipping (especially when the main character interact with that... thing).
