The Internet was Right: Microsoft admits X360 flaws

Actually almost all of the consoles that were returned were refurbs from pre 2006. The batch that has a problem is obviously just downright defective. Anything after 2005 will work perfectly fine. This still doesn't mean MS was absolutely lying when saying the system has a 3-5% defect rate. Considering when they were making the statement they were comparing numbers shipped to date vs. consoles returned to date. They have no way of predicting when a defective console will fail and return.
I don't believe they were outright lying, but I do believe they knew a long time ago that something wasn't right. Unlike what you suggested in a previous post, I don't believe a manufacturer waits until they get defects above 3-5% before thinking something is wrong. Instead, they're likely looking at trends, projected failures that occur too soon or too often. Unless, of course, we dismiss all the early complaints about defects as Internet hyperbole and assume that the bulk of the defects occurred recently.

Well, my 360 died on Saturday. Got the dreaded three rings of death!!! Manifactured on the 29th November 05. She was not heavily used or for very long periods either as i generally don't have the time due to work. Made sure it was in an open area, bought the nyko cooler and would even put a room fan to blow on it if they day was too hot because i read all the problems with overheating etc. Truth be told, she would freeze on me every now and again but i didn't think this would have happened.

Now the only real problem i have is that i live in Trinidad in the West Indies (purchased in Trinidad as well) so I'm not sure how MS will deal with repairs or replacement but i'll find out later when i call so i'll report back here their response.

Mine died two saturdays ago... same context as vblh... launch day x360...sent it back now awaiting repair... good thing I'm on travel so I couldn't play it anyway... otherwise I'd be HOT! I wish they would have done the 65nm refresh already... and released the black 360

MS customer support is sucking balls right now, UPS was supposed to show up with my box thursday before last, still haven't got here. Called em last week, they said Tues or Weds....week later...no box.

I bought another 360 at futureshop to hold me off, they have a sweet 30 day return policy :devilish: , but still this is pissing me off, I have to make yet another call to the idiot customer service reps at MS (they are nice enough, but very thick headed and sllooooow)

Customer Service is an oxymoron. We can't really expect someone getting paid $2 over minimum wage, taking crap all day long, to be the most happy and helpful person. This goes with any company. I'm pretty sure the only time you get anywhere is if you catch someone who just started their shift. Apparently they're still lying to themselves saying it's going to be a good day at work.

On a side note, I've always found they work better with you if you are firm, but not angry and explain you know it's not their fault, but you need the problem fixed immediately.

So i just got off the phone with Customer Service. So because i live in Trinidad They can't send me the box so i can ship it back to them for repairs. I have to go back to the store where i purchased it and have them send it back up & then send it from and address in the US.
I understand it but it's a lot of runaround to be honest. I asked about service centers in the Central or South American regions but he explained that because it was purchased in the US it MUST be sent back there for repairs.
So now it's back to the store where i purchased it from and we'll see what they say about this. The owner of the store was positive MS would repair it but i don't thing he's expecting this one!
All i know is i want a working 360so we'll see what happens.
