Wow. That really was one expertly crafted trailer.
Indeed!! F*cking Holy Shit! Its everything a car fanatic or a car engineer loves all communicated in it. It shows how much the guys at PD are nuts about racing and everything car-related!
This is more than a game.

The only thing I want to fault Polyphony is the lack of Home support. Perhaps this should be directed at the Home team, since PD is already overloaded.

Ok, they win by a nose this round:

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, November 18th, visitors to PlayStation Home’s Central Plaza or Theater will be able to pick up an exclusive Gran Turismo 5 costume designed by the platinum-selling rock band, My Chemical Romance. The band’s single “Planetary (Go!)” from the upcoming Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, is the main song in GT5’s opening cinematic sequence. This special racing suit will only be available for a limited time, so be sure to log in to PlayStation Home Thursday and pick yours up while you can!

Should have more interesting content (e.g., in-Home tokens to exchange for or unlock cars in GT PSP and GT5).

Untalented race car drivers like sexy cars too.

I don't give a shit about cars and I'm excited.

So anyone know what refresh the physics engine is running at?

How do the weather effects compare to PGR4s?

And wow the interiors look nice, so much better than Prologue, PD have a real talent for getting the materials to look right, whether it be glass, plastic, metal, leather, rubber.

Logitech G25 + Wheel Stand Pro Review:

The Wheel itself is extremely well built. Considerably more 'silent' than my previous Driving Force Pro. I'd assume this is largely due to the ball bearings in it which make it smoother and quieter. The Force Feedback feels good, and has really good "kick".

The shifter is a bit loose, and I'm not sure i'm sold on it. I mean, I shouldn't say "loose" but maybe "smooth". I find myself going into the wrong gears too often, but this might just be my lack of practice, so who knows.

The pedals are amazing. They have fantastic weight to them, very responsive and I feel like I have total control over the break / throttle.

The Wheel Stand Pro is also a SOLID piece of equipment. Everything is adjustable, and very easily so. It doesn't take any time at all to change your settings, so you don't spend a lot of time fumbling around with adjustments if multiple people are playing. Even under rough racing (aka me trying to drift and failing miserably) the stand doesn't budge and holds up marvelously.

I got the "deluxe" edition, which allows all the components to bolt down to the stand, meaning they won't budge an inch.

Overall, for anyone that is interested in buying one, I can't recommend it enough. It's a great alternative to a dedicated cockpit and feels fantastic.

Now if they just could release the full game in the PSN store at the same time, I will be very happy.

Those fantastic trailers are hugely deceptive if actual gameplay looks like this:

Those track environments look like GT4 on PS2

As always with racing games, replay and photo mode =/= in game. Those are all standard model cars right?

I'd check out other tracks too. The night driving and rain or snow tracks should not be PS2 standard. I remember there are other more beautiful tracks in the game. That Miata looks like a standard car instead of a premium model. I doubt GT5 fans will be disappointed by the visuals. They are happy with GT5P and GT5 Academy. GT5 should be better.

I think I'm personally more distracted by the shader alias.

Yes, but its usually higher LOD models, no aliasing, extra motion blur - this looks like a completely different game to the trailers which look photo real.

The cars don't look bad, but the environments are shocking - even worse looking than Forza 2 (which is probably the worst looking racing sim this console generation)

Look at the tree sprites and the abysmally, low res road texture.

It reminds me of GT HD, which also had some terrible looking environments but everyone was happy with the cars and were sure it would be fixed in the final game.

IMO it makes no sense to have such huge disparity in visuals, I'm sure the other tracks (especially the city ones) are far better looking - why can't they make a simple track with just grass and trees look passable, it's hardly a demanding environment to render.

I mean it's not like they haven't had enough time - it seems like a massive oversight by a supposedly perfectionist studio

You know You're talking about Top Gear Test Track right now? :> You have plenty of gameplay from that track and its really recreated 1:1 with its real counterpart [except 3D grass :p]. And You can get bad environment fragment from every game [i've seen pretty bad from FM 3 too].

Direct Feed gameplays [guys on gtp planet point out that those are not available for usa yt members]

the Nascar vids look pretty boring to me actually. I never saw 43 cars in any of the vids nor any "showbiz" aspects of it. its like a limited, bland version of it. I'm not into Nascar anyway, but how can it be Nascar without 43 cars?
Also i never seen such ease of passing in real Nascar either...far from a sim imo. but i'm hopeful the rest of the races feel realistic.

Actually on the Super Speedways passing is that easy. There is just usually a lot of blocking and not allowed to pass below the yellow line.
