The Big Forza 2 Thread *

As expected then,

Kleine Durchhänger in der Karriere und die doch etwas enttäuschende Grafik-Qualität kosten den Titel aber am Ende die Bestnote.

Anyway, they talk so little about the car physics (one line, to be exact), and nothing about supported wheels, so for now it looks like I'll still have to play the game myself. ;)

Hopefully I can find someone who gets it, or the demo. Right now I don't think I even know anyone who has a 360, let alone with a wheel ...

I have all the above with a playseat, it plays perfect.

Someone took some pics

Well guys, let's hear your impressions already. :)

Gameplay: Everybody knew it was going to be perfect, and it pretty much is.
Graphics: A mixed bag. They said that they were aiming for PGR3 with everything going on. Maybe they should have shot for a higher standard, but I feel that they largely hit that plateau. 60fps is very nice. Scenery is nice as well. Some shimmering but over good. Not great, just good.

i'm so happy that turn10 did stick with their original 60fps goal, the sense of speed this game brings is just simply unbelievable.

I tested it briefly this morning and as has been mentioned the gameplay is perfect. Audio and AI are also excellent. This game has just been getting blasted for its graphics. They definitely aren't bad and it looks way better in person and in motion than the screenshots you have seen. As I have mentioned in previous posts, Forza, unlike some other games, isn't really about hyper realistic graphics. But what is there, sans some shimmering, is fast and clean. It doesn't sport the "cool" over exposed look of PGR3, or the restrained realistic lighting of GT. Forza has its own look and you can tell there is consistency in that regard from the old version to the new. The colors are too "rich" to be realistic, but it makes things easy to see and identify. From all the comments, it doesn't seem to be a style that resonates with people, but the game is what it is; Fun!

I just played the demo a little bit and the gameplay is really good, I nodest immediately that it's not so easy to drive fast in this game!

The graphics are not very good imo and there are plenty of jaggies, on a SDTV this probably does not look all that much better than Forza 1... Luckily I have HDTV so the graphics are tolerable. The track in the demo probaly isn't the most impressive visually among the other tracks though...

Graphics: OK. Nothing more to say, really.

Driving: Top notch. Absolutely perfect. :)

Gran Turismo has some catching up to do...

Sitting at about 8ft away from a 50inch plasma the graphics look damn good! Track details and enviornments are certainly a step up from PGR3. 0 and I repeat 0 slowdowns no matter what is happening.

But the driving, oh MAN! the DRIVING! they got it nailed. I seriously cannot tell you how the car feel and controls could be done any better. Played the demo for over an hour now and I'm absolutely blown away. I have no idea how they pulled it off but the driving is aboslutely perfect.

Oh and into the 52's with a R390GT1 now :) FF wheel my ass :p

If I had to pick between the car handling vs graphics alone, I'll take the car handling. Not sure how anyone can walk away unimpressed from this game.

I hate these driving sims, but I checked out the demo.

Good:

Driving felt "real" and the little arrows on the ground were a help. I like the damage models. The sound was also very well done.

Bad:

No AA or AF that I could see. The game looks like an Xbox game at 720P IMO. The glowing cars were also annoying.

I would never buy a game like this, but I suspect those who enjoy sims will love it.

Man, I've been reminded all over again why I love Forza, the driving is just smooth as butter and perfect in everyway, I can't wait till my wheel comes in from EBAY.

The GFX are nice, better than PGR for sure, but the jaggies and shimmer really take away from the overall image quality. Especially on the car models, stands, and the car's in front of you, at 50+ yards, they just shimmer away, it's a shame. Otherwise everything looks really nice and sharp.

The game is soo much more fun to drive with Traction control and stability control turned off. The F40 is a blast if you can tame it.

K, goin to play some more...:devilish:

Update:

The R2 class Porsche 911GT1 is the best handling/overall car for this track.

They got the sounds down great. If you have a decent 5.1 system, you don't need mirrors. The sounds will tell you exactly where you are on the track in relation to other cars.

Haven't had time to dload the demo yet. Maybe this weekend. Is there really no AA at all in the demo, or is it the 2x that we were expecting and it just looks that bad with the shimmering?

It's 2xMSAA in-game and 4xMSAA in replays. The bright light reflections ramping up edge contrasts, and specular aliasing make it seem worse. Also it looks like the road surface gets a healthy dose of AF but nothing on the road sides.

that's what i noticed too; 2xAA in game 4x replay and yes AF on road in front.

shimmering is evident though but the surroundings look good as does the sky and the sounds are perfect.

Not usually my type of game but the physics, handling, AI, racing and options are so good that I'm seriously considering buying a wheel and trying this puppy for real.
