The Big Forza 2 Thread *

The difference compared to what it was shown yesterday is HUGE!!!

that was so SUDDEN

Because what was show yesterday was a month old demo build sent out to Teamxbox, Gamespot etc. While this video, and the one from last week, are from the latest builds.

The fastest way to release a "demo" is by labeling it a Beta. ;)

Love the new video - I'm loving that brake heating. :D

Any ideal if they will be giving the pit crews & side spectators some decent A.I.? These guys just look plain damn stupid.

lol, I agree! If they aren't going to have them do something (wandering around a confined area mindlessly should be good enough) at least develop a few models that are hunched over, picking up something, looking busy or whatever!

Holy crap. I even see some aliasing there... which is a good thing... does that mean there is a chance that such a car model and shaders will be used in game? That really doesn't smell as much like a PR bullshot as some other images.

What do you mean? All the pictures except for the grabs from the E3 06 trailer are in-game pictures. They are fotomode pictures so they all have 4x AA and you can play around with the contrast and blur, but its the same car models and everything.

Gameplay will have 0-4x AA depending on load. Thats the difference, that and amount of blur

I guess what I meant was that the picture in question seemed to look gorgeous without obviously exaggerated blurr, DoF, etc. (For contrast, the shot of that car's bumper posted earlier looks fantastic, but is obviously not what you will expect to see in game).

I was just wondering how close gameplay might get to that pic since it doens't have tons of effects added in photomode and the models and environment are the same. If it is close, I'm going to be pleasantly surprised and one very happy gamer.

You mean the reflections on the bumper? This game has realtime reflections of everything on the cars. You will see other cars reflecting of yours etc. It wont have same DOF effects tho.

Its pretty much what the final game looks like, color scheme might be a bit different tho.

I think it was the DoF that made that bumper shot so sweet. This one looks a lot more like the DoF in gameplay, which is what has me excited!

perhaps realtime but theyre not acurrate by any stretch of the imagination. my guess is theyre just creating a cubemap centered on each car (if that even)
in saying that the photomode screenshots look very nice.
that guy at the front of the pitcrew looks like hes thinking. '.... comon hurry up im nearly doing it in my pants' (actually it cant be the pits cause theres a rail there)

Evidently 360 owners can judge for themselves possibly as early as next week when the game goes Gold as that is when the demo is reported to be released.

looks brilliant, if microsoft fix ring of death issues i am jumping back in :devilish:

there is always something to cry about... how about thank Turn 10 for its achievement???

No it's not using a cubemap, but real reflections. Same as in Forza1 and PGR2. But if it reflects the other cars, perhaps but I don't think thats the case but the track yes.

Its reflecting the environment properly, not using cubemaps. Take a look at the gameplay videos.

As far as cars reflecting cars, here is the first gameplay pic released more than half a year ago:

Ahh most impressive, must be the first racing game that has cars reflected on the other cars.

Holy shit. When I first looked at those pics, I thought I was in the GT:HD thread. I was like, WOW those look so much better than forza, and then I looked at another pic, and I was like WOW it looks incredible, and now is starting to look a bit like Forza's engine, except just so much nicer (thinkin I wished that forza could look that good). :D

You know, I think it is the lighting that has improved so much in these latest pics. It really removes a lot of that "fake" feel some of the earlier ones had.

BTW - for some reason Firefox isn't doing anything with .wmv files from the web. Both the streaming and full file versions just open a new blank window and sit there doing nothing. I have several players installed that can play .wmv files and my preferred one is correctly associated wtih .wmv.... any suggestions?
