The Big Forza 2 Thread *

Well this pic looks incredible.

As does the amount of (SS)AA. Not too ingame imo.

Well actually, we don't really. The next 5 weeks are all polishing, and tweaking, so it will inevitably get better and better looking as it nears release date.

Highly unlikely that a game in such an advanced development state will get noticably better (at least that's what the past told us). If they improve anything it is performance, not visuals.

Actually we see it all the time. They are still working on lighting for one thing, changes to lighting are extremely 'noticeable'

...Nah, the need for speed series doesn't do it for me. And as far as pre-judgment goes, I think we all have a pretty good idea of what the final product looks like. They aren't terrible by any means, in fact, better than PGR3 it looks like (and is one good looking game), but I do think that Bizarre has a better style, more realistic look for the cars. Small things like blurry decals on cars in Forza 2 bother me....

You have some very valid opinions.

While PGR3 is a brilliant game, and it gives you that great arcade feel, other then the use of real cars and real cities, there isn't much else sim about it.

Much like scooby said, there are plenty of 'assists' in Forza to give you your arcade feel, WHILE still giving you your upgrades. If you are already a fan of PGR3, then Forza2 should be an automatic purchase.

In regards to the soundtrack, thats fine to. I have plenty of friends who don't have any specific 'tastes' and like the randomness of game soundtracks. That is not a back handed compliment. The beauty of music and heck games, is to each their own.

With that being said...5 weeks and counting. This will be another Day 1 purhcase (PGR3, Condemmed, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Gears, Lost Planet, Crackdown,) for me. This will be more games I have purhcased day 1, then I have in my last 20+ years of gaming. I don't know what that says, but sounds like a bunch of good games to me. None of them have dissapointed me yet.

This is actually the exact opposite of what they said at GDC. They have the performance that they want already. They specifically mentioned they will be improving the look of the game in these last few weeks, mentioning the lighting in particular.

This is a Day 1 purchase for me, as well.

When? Scooby, considering the state of development, if by now the dev house hasn't released pics that are at least indicative of in game performance, we should be very worried about that release date. Remember, the next 5 weeks are not only going into graphical tweaks, although I'm sure that will be a part of it.

Again, I'm not saying this is final code, but it should look pretty much the same when we get it. Let's make a gentleman's wager eh? :D

Yeah. I actually never played forza 1, so I'm pretty excited to try forza 2. But it looks to me like PGR series is in a different niche, somewhere in between NFS and Forza. I love that game for the, pick up and play [online] feel of it. I'm def. open minded to try new things, so I'll be picking this up when I have some dough to spare.

Well its kind of a hand in hand with the PGR series. Forza is MS's response to GT and both have a loyal fan base. Forza is a very strong technical sim and this next installment looks to continue on that.

I have a feeling they are over-promising with this title. That pic is definetely not going to represent gameplay (IMO).

Fine, present your terms ;)

The developer has stated explicitly that they are focusing on nothing but visual tweaks and bug fizing from now to launch date, include a direct reference to getting the lighting right, which is IMO the only real problem with the GFX.

Alot of games have shown pictures which do NOT represent what the ingame will look like whatsoever, so its not something new ;)

For some reason, I cant help but lol @ the visual comments people are making. Im as much of a graphics whore as the next guy(whoever that is  ), but in this case, I'd take gameplay over graphics(I guess I know how those people feel now).

I'd gladly sacrifice 1080p and vehicles that come close to photorealism *hint* , for a rich and detailed gameplay experience thats not seen in other games.

Graphics can only get you so far, if it doesnt have the gameplay to boot, you feel somewhat empty handed(well thats how I feel anyway  )

The Nurburgring one looks really impressive to me. Its the first screenshot of this game that made me think it looks realistic.

^^ Photo mode galore…

I just wish game developers (Polyphony, Bizarre Creations, etc…) would use/show more player mode gaming shots versus the photo mode shots. Photo mode shots tend to fudge certain graphic aspects in most racers.

LOL

Come on Nerve those are ingame/inengine screenshots. ;)
