The Big Forza 2 Thread *

new IGN shot .... well old shot just uploaded correctly ;)

The track surface looks really good as done the chain link fence on the right. Seeing the crowds and canopies that far out is pretty cool! Hoping they define the track to gravel transition a little better.

I don't care for the car models that much since I use the road only view but the reflections look good to me.

the track looks nice, as well as the car
terrible shadows though, not to mention the trees (though most racers have bad trees)

Honestly, this doesn't look good enough to me. GTHD is the standard for the cars and unfortunately it's far from it...

GTHD also doesn't have to worry about damage modeling, multiple cars on the track and other such complexities. It's actually a shame we didn't get the full GTHD game to see if the graphics would hold up under the aforementioned stresses. That way we could've compared it directly to the demo. The demo however, does remain impressive.

IGN indicates cars handle appropriately (and rave about the 3 monitor setup none of us will ever own).

Maybe. It's not inconceivable that in 3 years time, decent flatscreens and the 360 will cost about one third of what they do now, and people are buying flatscreens and 360s now too. ;) Forza and Gran Turismo are the kind of games that can be your single game, and that could lead to you making a setup for it like this. I know some people with awesome Gran Turismo setups, and if that game had online support as well as LAN support, then the multiple screen support that was already present in that game since GT3 would probably have been used by at least some people. Remember that you can use some cheap SDtvs as well - just being able to see cars come up next to you in the corner of your eye alone would help a great deal and add to the immersion.

Of course, the other main problem here is space. ;)

The rear left and the front right. Damages get pretty evenly spread left and right.

Imo it's almost head on collision, but to me it seems like the front left did sustain heavier damage, if you stop the footage and look at it. I also think the rear left might sustain some damage during the first spin. Also metal can bend without a direct hit, if the impact force is strong enough. It doesn't by any means look 100% realistic, but I didn't expect it to look 100%. It certainly looks good enough to me that I woulnd't call it a bug.
