Technical Comparison Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox

So we may reasonably conclude, then, that downclocks or disabling of additional resources is not going to happen for PS4 or Xbone?

God Cjail, is that last sentence a question or an afirmative? You started it with the auxiliary verb "can" before the subject "I" which in english denotes a question, but your punctuation contradicts it when you use a exclamation mark, used for afirmatives, instead of a question mark. Why are you trying to confuse people with twisted use of grammar when its rulles are simple and clear?

Ok thanks for correcting me.
I made another stupid mistake

I didn't try to change the meaning or anything, I just misread it.
I even asked if was reading it wrong and was told politely that it was the case by Betanumerical and Shifty.

No "evil" intent, no conscious desire to distort reality or facts, just a mistake.
Can I make mistakes and not be attacked!

I wasn't attacking you I was asking why you would ignore the fact that they was talking about the PS4 GPU in comparison to the HD 7970M & take it to mean that the PS4 GPU has been downgraded?
Because they gave the specs of the HD 7970M then said "Orbis shaves off 10 per cent of that number"

Sorry if you felt like you was being attacked.

Milk was being sarcastic (if he wasn't, he's getting a temp ban!). Mild grammatical errors are par for the course on internet discussion boards, even with experienced English users. Furthermore, there's some debate over how to punctuate your phrase. Modern fashion would add both '?' and '!', assuming you intended emphasis. But traditionalists say you should pick one or other, and printers even invented a new mark, the interrobang, that fuses both marks. So Milk ain't even right. And his name doesn't start with a capital!

Interesting: Sony commits to Vita Remote Play with EVERY PS4 title.

I'm guessing this is a newish thing with the increased RAM pool, they have set aside resources to be always available. I wonder if this will be like the Wuu in that you can just swap right over in the middle of playing. I also wonder if Gakai tech has helped.

This would be the fourth post about this on B3D. :p Including the main one on the main Game Forum.

As the article describes, and as has been known for awhile now, RP is more about having a client device with a dedicated video decoder, and a server device with a dedicated video encoder, along with the necessary wireless connection between them with adequate performance. With or without the 8 GB bump, RP would have been there. DF's Wii U Off TV play tear down should give a pretty good indicator of the approach Sony is likely to take now that the right hardware is in place. As announced at the unveil, yes, you'll be able to switch right over. And they also mentioned "Gaikai tech" being used for the PS4/PSV Remote Play. Likely on the software side of things to reduce latency and improve controller response (something Gaikai should have a lot of IP to help with). What Gaikai tech is used, however, is purely my supposition.

Hmm, hitching your new product to a proven loser.

Brilliant.

I'm actually looking forward to this, many times I am competing with other users for the TV and when I can get the TV its time to be in bed so remote play would allow me to finish up games that currently take me months to get around to completing.

Don't believe everything you read on the net' .

Actually it matches what I've heard about Durango looking likely to slip.

Also probably why we're not getting Xbox TV, they were looking to launch it at the same time as XB1.

And Vita Remote Play is a killer feature I think, definitely one of the reasons I'll be getting the PS4 and a Vita, being able to play Battlefield, GT, Witcher 3 etc while in bed or while someone else is using the TV will be great.

Just out of curiosity, is this possible to be streamed to your smartphone or tablet as well?

You wouldnt need the video decoder on the smartphones since the processors will not be burden by other task, so they will be able to do it themselves.

Sony can sell one of those universal smartphone clip controller.

Must Agree. They are pouring R&D cost into something that has failed. Hopefully, they can convert and used this on any smartphones.

Slip to what? Release date you mean? If we look at the recent Wired video interview, the MS lady says they are 7 months out from launch.

Yep pretty much. It's a freebie anyways since they're always encoding the video stream. Vita will just tap into it.

Console quality (J)RPGs on Vita will be very cool. Or any game that doesn't need fast inputs or reactions.

Brilliant.
Yes it is.

If I can remote play any games I have on my PS4's HDD through my internet connection, that's a gigantic win, something Microsoft cannot do nearly as easily. I could play these games on my wifi at work, essentially a Vita with PS4 quality. The controls are comfortable and support all functions. Same for the gaikai plan, which will allow streaming a huge back catalog of PS3 games on Vita (but I'm doubting gaikai lag figures though, I do trust my link home->work).

It was looking likely to slip release date, but i heard that quite a while ago - it's not going to actually slip the November launch but they probably had to cut a few things and postpone Xbox TV to get it out the door on time. Which could be why these supposed GAF insiders are complaining about the state of their tools.

Doesn't appear to be supported short of some Remote Play hack (which people have already done with the current version). What they have announced for mobile devices is developer dependent second screen support similar to Smart Glass along with a PlayStation App for interacting with your PS4 and SEN account. Any second screen type of app requires separate developer effort and system resources, however.
  • Remote Play - PSV Only
  • PlayStation App - PSV, iOS, Android
  • Game Companion Apps - Developer Dependent
Oh, a user can stream their live game play session, opening it to being viewed on any PlayStation App devices, however. Non-interactively, that is.

Im confused as to why MS couldn't do this? I know Smartglass is about second screen but RemoteFX, and rdp are builtin to windows... this isn't really remarkable technology.

I can remotely play any game that's on my PC on my Surface RT right now.

SmartGlass for One will use WiFi Direct, I guess it is faster than current implementation. The bad news is the lack of physical buttons in a phone/tablet.

Even better with 360/X1 controller support.

Bingo.

Although I guess Ps vita is quite a bit more wieldy than traveling with an Xbox controller to some degree.

If Sony were smart they'd make a downloadable client for pc that allows you to connect your ps4 controller to your pc or RT or android device... That is more killer than a vita tie up AFAIC.

I'm really glad I'm on B3d.
