Super edition of the Doom 3 for PS3?

The latest print issue of Game Informer magazine has a new interview with id Software programmer John Carmack who chats about a number of things including his Doom RPG cell phone game. his opinions on the upcoming Doom movie, and prospects on any possible Doom game sequel (which Carmack said would likely not have id's direct involvement but would be given to another developer a la Raven with Quake 4). Perhaps the most interesting comment in the interview came when Carmack said, "One idea we've been sort of tossing around that is just a random idea is possibly doing some kind of super edition of the Doom 3 stuff for the PS3. It's something that we'd kind of like to do."

Sorry if old, or already posted. Just an intresting idea. Btw anyone know if Quake IV is announced for PS3?

That could be a lot of pointy-headed guys on screen. ;) Seriously though, aren't they working on a new engine? Why not adapt that instead? It would seem like a better expenditure of money than half-assing another console port. The port of Q4/D4 (hard to tell which is which these days) to the 360 looks extremely lazy. PEACE.

If you look past the "game" and read between the lines this allows for a very interesting discussion between the capabilities of PC/Xbox 360/PS3.

At this time, only PC and xbox 360 platforms have been announced.
