True, but its not the same with the older systems since ROM carts sizes kept getting bigger during their cycles. The devs in 1995 had more memory space to work with than devs in 1990. Now that isn't such an issue. I think the most milked system was the ps1 as far as quality arc went. I'd throw the NeoGeo in there somewhere also.

i can agree with that. i think people look at things the wrong way when it comes to this most of the time anyway. just because a game uses 100% of a piece of hardware's polygon thoughput (or 100% cpu, ect) doesn't mean that's the proper way to code stuff. hell, i think i could write a simple calculator program that's coded so poorly that it take 100% of the xbox's cpu time.I don't know, I think games like Doom 3, Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 are really pushing the Xbox hard.

launching with games like Home Alone, the SNES had nowhere to go but up

Except early PSX and N64 efforts were just as bad, and ended up better.

whats this have to do with naything we are talking about ?
platformarchie4oz said:Are you talking from a franchise or from a single platform? Just Tekken to Tekken 3 (even better, Tobal 2 )was a massive improvement (although it was more gradual with Tekken 2 in between)... Or try comparing Ridge Racer to GT or GT2...
jvd said:While ridge racer to gt and gt3 is big its not close to the jump from vf to virtual fighter 2 .
jvd said:vf vs vf2
sorry about the quality its hard to find pics from the old consoles
Well, I guess it is kind of hard to have a bigger improvement than going from no texturing to actually having texturing, but was Virtua Fighter the best looking saturn game at the time?(cause honestly, I could probably find 1st gen psx games that still looked worse)
